Iconic, The Gold Rush is entertaining, funny, and unforgettable.

Comedy and reflexion story that a genius like Chaplin could perfectly make into my favorites of all time.

The classic of mute comedy classics. Personally, it's the most representative of Chaplin. Hilarious and magical

I didn't get a lot out of it.

Perfection in comedy

Plot wise, it's all over the place but the movie is filled with brilliant physical comedy (obviously) and really dark humor.

Both the 1925 version and the edited & reworked 1942 sequel are wonders on film. The little tramp is a hero for anyone who has experienced poverty. His trusting nature wins the day. My copy is from the public library so had both movies on one disc.

I love Charlie Chaplin, and The Gold Rush is my favorite Chaplin film!

Very interesting, it's almost 100 years old!!!

The Gold Rush was an amazing movie. It felt like it was 2 hours long ( even thought it was 1 hour and 28 minutes) but that's probably because this movie is very very dated. It was made 98 years ago. In 2025 this movie is going to have its 100th anniversary. The whole cast was really good. Charlie Chaplin did a good job at doing everything in this spectacular film. Also the Gold Rush was really funny, and I LOVE comedy. Charlie Chaplin made me chuckle a few times in this very old movie. This movie was an amazing comedy/romance. 84%.

It started off slow but it soon picked up a lot of steam once he met others looking for gold and once he met Georgia in the saloon! This is a romance, an adventure, and a comedy all meshed together in a very creative production for the time! That never before done sequence where they're both in the house dangling from the cliff, the scene when they're all in the saloon singing Auld Lang Syne and Charlie alone at his place, and the music in general made this film shine. It's amazing that a film from almost 100 years ago can still be entertaining to this very day for those passionate about what movies have to provide, from any time! Another treasure from Charlie Chaplin!

"The Gold Rush" along with "City Lights" (1931) are two of my personal favorite Chaplin films and also considered his most famous masterpieces among a history of great films! Chaplin combines his LittleTramp character, here titled The Lone Prospector, with a touching and equally funny premise. Some of the most famous and hilarious scenes are found in this film and they include the roll dancing scene, Chaplin turning into a chicken and many others, all which literally make you die with laughter. No matter who you are or your place in life, Chaplin lifts your spirit and gives just as many laughs as touching and heartfelt pieces all making up masterpiece films! "The Gold Rush" was Chaplin's first film in which he had full creative control and it is known to be his personal favorite. It is currently rated as #58 on the American Film Institutes Top 100 Films of all Time list. I cannot say enough of its magnificence! This Criterion Blu-ray release includes the original Silent 1925 Version as well as the Talkie version, voiced by Chaplin, that he re-released in 1942. The original silent runs 88 minutes and the talkie version runs a bit shorter at 72 minutes.

Heart warming, sincere and tremendously fun

My kids were hesitant about watching a silent movie, but I knew The Gold Rush would win them over. And it did. They were laughing and gasping at all the right parts. Charlie Chaplin certainly knew how to craft a film and included plenty of heart & humor in this one. The Gold Rush has already stood the test of time, and it will continue to do so for many more years to come.

I'm not a fan of Chaplin: his calculated and often over-worked style leaves me cold. But I have to admit that this famous feature won me over. The situations are plausible, his cast excellent, particularly his brutish fellow gold miner and the girl who plays his love interest, Gloria. The set pieces - particularly the boot eating and the vertiginously teetering log cabin - are genuinely funny, and the ending is charming and sweet.

One of Charlie Chaplin's best early films, The Gold Rush follows the famous "Tramp" to the Klondike region of Alaska to take part in the gold rush of the late 19th century. Endearingly charming, hilarious, pathetic and lovable, some of Chaplin's best bits can be scene in this film, including the famous "roll dance".

A beautiful movie based on Chaplin's own childhood experiences. An expertly constructed movie, especially for the 1920s (in addition to Chaplin's comedic acting). I've grown a new love for similar movies as this now has to be one of my favorites. Defininely recommend a watch even for younger generations.

This was practically the exact opposite of The Kid in that the comedy completely overshadowed the dramatic elements, a thoroughly welcome change for me. It's always good to see a comedy movie that has withstood the test of time & this one certainly has; multiple scenes drew genuine laughs from my wife & I. I watched the '42 version where they used narration instead of intertitles, a change I don't think I actually liked very much as they went really heavy on the narrating. The roll dance scene felt weirdly disjointed from the rest of the movie, but because of it I'm gonna be watching the entire Muppets filmography, so it'll at least be memorable for me in the end. I'm really glad I liked this one; The Kid had me thinking Chaplin tainted all of his comedies with heavy doses of seriousness!
