The Great Hack Reviews
I was devastated when I lost $80,000 worth of Bitcoin to a fake investment company. It felt like I had nowhere to turn, and I thought my funds were gone for good. However, after contacting Anonymous ‘ maciofonespyrix gma1l com I was amazed at how quickly they were able to track down my stolen Bitcoin. They worked tirelessly to trace the fraudulent transactions, liaised with the relevant authorities, and contacted the platforms involved in the scam. Thanks to Anonymous
Decided to watch this after the excellent 'The Social Dilemma', but was left overwhelmingly bored at times. Some interesting parts, but way too drawn out with very little keep any of our attention.
Nice documentary. It shows an accurate radiography of what happens inside the Big-Tech companies and the business with our data.
A really interesting documentary about the way that social media and advertising were used in the 2016 presidential election. It doesn't completely get to the bottom of it (and I wish it had more detailed information about what exactly Cambridge Analytica was up to) but nevertheless a very informative documentary about the way we live now. I especially appreciated the emotionally revealing confessions of Brittany Kaiser, a social media executive who got her start working for Obama and ended up with the Trump campaign. The brief story she tells about her family getting swept out of their home by the global financial crisis and the disparate pay on offer from her from Democrats and Republicans says a lot and really gets to the heart of the matter both in her life, and in our politics.
very boring not engaging
So real, so intense and also a great warning to us now and to the future, this documentary illustrates very well our problem with data in the web world. It is didatic and urgent, everyone should see it to create critical thoughts and understands the importance of data rights as human rights too.
More education. I was, of course, aware of the scandal as it was revealed. This look behind the curtain was interesting, though horrifying in the realization of what it means moving forward – that bad genie is out of the bottle.
This documentary focuses on the political aspects of big data exploitation and I'm pleased to see it being discussed, but I do have my concerns about how it's received when it balances polarization, in a sense that it puts in exact opposites movements like BLM and Blue Lives Matter. I know it wasn't the point and it was just an example, but 15 seconds would've sufficed for this issue not to exist. Other than that, it's a very well-made documentary, educational and accessible.
I know this has nothing to do with the topic but i'll just put this here. This, 17th Sept 2020. Far too hot. Relationship to the truth. This is a court case and I'm not going to get involved. Description: This documentary concerns an ongoing? legal battle, to get facebook, to be accountable for the way people use it? in particular with regards to a company, Cambridge Analytica, who used it to data-mine. The devil is in the details, and I am no master of the details, sorry. Basically, you follow Mrs. Brittany Kaiser as she testifies against former employer Cambridge Analytica. Introduced to the subject, by Prof. D. Carroll's case; that he would like his data back, from being used by Cambridge Analytica, who were interested in him as a potential US voter- a case he could only argue, in Britain. There is recorded footage of Cambridge Analytica's CEO? Alexander Nix, talking callously about tactics they used, to sway an election, in Trinidad and Tobago... And a large chunk also from Mrs. Carole Cadwallr about her investigations into the bad boys of Brexit. Finally saying the UK is now compromised, when it comes to elections. Reaction: I'm totally not on top of this as an issue. I quite liked this documentary. What will I remember in future? I'm not sure. I found some of the graphics- buildings deteriorate into data dust, people say Cambridge Analytica repeatedly - moderately irritating. I quite like the new effect, a tweet pops up on screen... … Durham, has a great university. Manchester. The London School of Economics. Why, when someone wants to cultivate a veneer of intellectual superiority, could they not have used these perfectly decent establishments in their name? I live in Cambridge- now have to look twice at everyone I pass by. Thanks
People must watch this and The Social Dilemma I find they go hand in hand ! great documentary Im grateful I got to see this in order to make changes.
Yeah, it’s good. Fact-based and informative. It involves polarizing subject matters, and so there’s a chance some people (ones that tend to be closed-minded) are going to accuse it as being propaganda, misusing the word. As far as a documentary goes, I thought they did an excellent job. The cameras collect real moments from people, and they edit everything together for smooth story telling. Since you’re online right now, I feel you have an obligation to watch this, and think what you will about it after, but do watch it.
I'm giving it 4-1/2 stars only because the topic is so critical. It's a little too drawn out. I had already read Christopher Wylie's "Mind*ck", which describes in detail Cambridge Analytica's operations, so I could fill in the blanks in this movie. The take-away is that Facebook, under its current leadership--which lacks any semblance of ethics--is a direct threat to democracy.
Everyone needs to watch this. From the 2016 U.S. election to Brexit and more, this documentary is an essential look at how data is being privatized and weaponized.
Makes you almost paranoid but with a solid reason. Everyone should be aware of the consequences of the data they share, even indirectly, on the internet. That is spooky.
It's really scary stuff. The things these tech companies know about us are pretty telling. They get a detailed picture of us and our choices. And unfortunately without us even realizing it they're being used by other companies who are taking all this information and influencing our lives. And they're influencing not just our views/beliefs but also significant events that shape the world we live in. And in the struggle for the almighty dollar, these social media companies are selling this information to anyone who will pay the asking price. It's really scary stuff and nothing is being done to address the situation. It's very scary stuff.
A terrifying expose into the events of 2016 and the involvement of Cambridge Analytica in the Brexit and Presidential votes. Perhaps suffers from being released before the true conclusion of these sagas, but certainly does a great job.
