The Green Inferno Reviews
The Green Inferno provides some momentary shocks, but it’s as heavy-handed as anything on Roth’s résumé.

More goofy than it ever manages scary

This movie tackles a surprising and different kind of storyline yet it is quite predictable. It won't go down is one of my favorites of the year but it was exciting and I found it very amusing and entertaining.

I can't necessarily recommend The Green Inferno, a brutally gory and smug reproach of "slacktivism."

The Green Inferno never progresses beyond sophomoric mockery and pale imitation.

I honestly feel a bit conflicted about the film. While I wish Roth had tried for something a bit more ambitious, I am honestly happy just to have a modern cannibal film in the style of one of my favorite films of all time - Cannibal Holocaust.

... a fairly fun cannibal movie even though it feels like it takes forever to get going and to the point. It attempts to have a message, but does it really need one?

Written and directed by Eli Roth and co-written by Guillermo Amoedo and an uncredited Nicolas Lopez, the story structure is well done and fully encompassing with commentary on various social and geo-political issues...Visually stunning.

The cast does nothing to improve this painful disaster. [Full Review in Spanish]

Ridiculous.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Jul 6, 2019
Fans of Cabin Fever and Hostel will love The Green Inferno as it has more unlikable characters getting brutally killed, but this proves that Roth can never live up to the hype he's been building for himself over the years.
| Original Score: 5.6/10 | Jun 26, 2019
A nerve-rattling, hard-to-shake-off cannibal chiller.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Jun 25, 2019
The Green Inferno sets out to be simply entertaining, and is.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Apr 16, 2019
I'd say that as a whole this was a successful project by Eli Roth. There are obviously aspects of the film that did not work within the context of the story.
| Original Score: 7/10 | Nov 2, 2018
The film is bloody fun.

Black comedy and shockingly disturbing violence come together with some underlying political subtext to make The Green Inferno Eli Roth's most accomplished film to date
| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 3, 2017
The Green Inferno is a movie that you'll likely never feel the need to revisit, though it must be seen to be experienced -- and that experience will linger with you.
| Original Score: 7/10 | Mar 16, 2017
The ravenous locals don't speak volumes for Roth's cultural sensitivity, but little here speaks much for his abilities.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jan 2, 2017
It's unfortunate that the entire thing is kind of tedious, while its frequent gore is disappointingly unimaginative.
| Original Score: C | Jun 27, 2016
It's mostly just sad - not because Roth takes such a sharp scalpel to the social justice movement, but because he swings a baseball bat, and misses by a mile.
