Awesome it’s a must see movie

So this is probably the better cinematic version of the story compared to the 2000 version but man it's really close for better or for worse. Everything about this is just alright. For every good thing there is a bad thing this botches. The humor in this falls just as flat as the 00' one though there isn't any moment where the Grinch puts his face in cleavage. So that's a minor plus. Cumberbatch is just alright in this with just a very questionable voice that just doesn't match the design of the Grinch at times. Some scenes it works alright but I never felt he nailed it at any point. He is a much more subdued Grinch than Carrey. In that regard one could argue Carrey had the better performance just for the physical acting. Thompson is great and one of the best things in this. Really he's the only voice actor with any personality and he should honestly do more after seeing him in this. The animation is the best thing here. The designs are really good witht hat illumination style. But the problem is sooo many scenes are wasted on pointless gags like the screaming goat or just get stretched out with pointless side stuff. This gets very boring at points in the middle The biggest botch is as the 67' classic short showed us this is a 20 minute story and they have to come up with ways to add over an hour to it. And it really botches it. It jumps around between Lucy and the Grinch and Lucy's stuff just feels pointless. So many scenes feel stretched or padded out with dumb humor or antics that feel pointless or aren't funny. That being said the ending is the best part and the dinner at the end is touching and honestly the best scene in any of the movie adaptations. The other issue is the music. Some works better than others. The holiday themes, cinematic scores, and the weird pop rap songs are just so odd and feel like an attempt to modernize it at times. And it just doesn't work and feels so out of place at times. In that regard this makes the same mistakes the 00' live action one does but there are things this does slightly better and I mean VERY slightly where I would give this one the edge. But honestly most should skip this and just stick to the 67' short.

This was a funny spin on the grinch. My favorite part was when they said “You have maggots in your smile.” And then it continues to show him smile with the whitest teeth ever seen.

Very boring. Grinch is less evil, why?

Actually a pretty good movie!

I remember falling asleep while watching this in the theater

My to-go Christmas movie. It's a beautifully animated and heart-warming story. I never read the original story but watched a movie with Jim Carrey. I do appreciate that this cartoon is different from the movie so you can watch it not as a remake but an original piece.

Leave it to the new generation to ruin the Grinch. Rap music for Christmas? Really? A delicate, soft voice for the Grinch? Really? Narration is also bland and weak. It could have been SO much better. Typical present day crap.

This movie honestly doesn’t deserve hate.

The best adaptation of the grinch 9/10

A gorgeous film from top to bottom; the details pop. A total feast for the eyes.

While a fun Christmas movie with breathtaking visuals, it certainly is a weaker retelling of the cunning and deceptive Grinch story.

Incredible animation couldn’t let me tolerate the terrible take on the original grinch theme, modern themes and horrid narration. Huge fan of the original and even the Jim Carrey version.., this was absolutely not anything I hope to ever see again. Cumberbacht and Keenan were horribly miscast.

This movie lacks the more genuine emotions that the live movie managed to portray, yet I give them credit in giving depth to a few characters without ruining the whole plot.
