The Hundred-Foot Journey Reviews
The Hundred Foot Journey is visually resplendent evocative food for the soul which reaffirms the beauty of life.
I love this movie and rewatch it often, it has cooking, romance (both a younger and older couple!), its heartwarming and truly excellent. Fills your soul like a good meal.
A warm, light feeling. That’s the feeling you get after watching the film. Its plot may be predictable, but you can never go wrong with a story about food, passion, and family.
A boring, predictable story, with poorly written dialogue and lousy casting. Nope.
I enjoyed Helen Mirren's acting, and the young Indian boy was okay. His father was better. A nice rivalry movie of restaurants. The ending is not so great.
I would have liked it better if the "French" were French. And that the Indians didn't speak English with each other. Anyway. A picturesque village in the south of France, and a lot of food and charm, makes it a pleasure to watch
A movie that isn't really about food, but about national pride and culture. As a chef, the hardest part was accepting that an untrained young man could simply read a book about French cooking and create classical dishes in one go, impressing Michelin critics without much effort. Helen Mirrin is amazing.
Boring movie that makes no sense.
Critics who complain that this movie has been done many times, and this is just another remake of a similar theme or critics, who have no taste at all. This is an excellent film. Full stop.
This movie is the reason I fell more in love with cooking with my soul and not with my eyes only.
It did a good job at pulling at the heartstrings right up until the last half hour when everything was already resolved and nothing was at stake anymore, and yet the film kept going for some reason?
Wow, was this movie Boring! I can't believe I actually sat through this whole thing. Although I did take two nights to get through it. What a sleeper.
wonderful acting, food prep, photography, etc. but extremely slow. Took me over 4 nights to watch it.
C- Needs seasoning. so many scenes made me roll my eyes. its soooo unrealistic, which in this case makes it a bore to watch. watchable, but not worth a second watch.
Director Lasse Hallström puts in vigorous effort to construct a compelling enough story to attract the audience and keep them nourished for a short spell. The actors' exceptional performances were not enough to cover up the script's flaws which caused the film to lose its purpose and sense.
One of the most beautiful movie with A R Rahman's music bringing the best of both eastern and western cultures.
A predictable feel good film that over stays its welcome. Regardless, it was fascinating since it touches on my interest of culture and food. Could've been better with some editing. It was on amazon.
A feel good movie, and I enjoy seeing the fabulous Helen Mirren. Cast seems just right for the roles and scenery is gorgeous. Story line is quite predictable I thought, just a fun, entertaining movie. We saw it on Amazon Prime free with membership. 3/5. After all, all of the credits are extras with interviews of the impressive producers, director, writer, actors... which I enjoyed.
The Hundred Foot Journey is not the kind of movie I am normally attracted to. I like crime & spy stuff: Jo, Three Days of the Condor, Red,etc. But I watch it because enjoy the wonderful talent of Helen Mirren. Turned out, the rest of the cast was wonderful also. Tolerance of others is a key value of mine. I live in a mixed, blue-collar neighborhood & I like my neighbors. Simple as that. Those values were reflected in this movie. And what could be more romantic than two generations finding romance. Very much your basic, 'feel good' movie.
