The Informer Reviews
“The Informer” nimbly plays within its gritty crime genre, maintaining a propulsive pace that keeps its audience on their toes. It all tangibly plays out within the moral malaise of underworld violence and crooked law enforcement.

…The Informer’s generic title hides a sober, fairly gripping thriller that’s something of an antidote to much of the silver-screen’s childish fare…

The Informant succeeds with maintaining the enigma and certain expectations but fails in its way of solving various plot aspects and leading its characters. [Full Review in Spanish]

The first [part] and the one that works best is... the one that takes place in the streets. [Full review in Spanish]

The Informer is ultimately for people who just want to see some forgettable fight scenes and other mindless violence amid a lot of plot holes. This movie is not for people who want to see a compelling and well-written crime drama.

Whilst The Informer doesn't revolutionise the crime genre, it doesn't need to, as audiences should get exactly what they expected and hopefully more.

Nothing new to see here, but grading on the Pandemic Curve, it's perfectly fine...

The Informer is not a good movie, but it does manage to waste an enormous amount of talent and that's impressive!

There are so many other B-level crime thrillers that get the job done much better.

The story is overly familiar and takes some twists and turns that stretch credibility, but "The Informer" is still a modestly involving thriller.

Joel Kinnaman is taking names in true action movie-star fashion.

I was held along with the suspense and I enjoyed it enough to stay along for the ride.

The Informer is a hard-bitten thriller that won't insult your intelligence.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Nov 7, 2020
A solid crime flick whose heart rate never rises to a point commensurate with the many layers of danger its eponymous protagonist faces.

May not be the most inspired crime-thriller ... but there's some good moments towards the end that makes it not feel like wasted time to watch it

The movie has a surfeit of the sudden reversals and interlocking loyalties that can make for an absorbing time killer.

"The Informer" is like an experiment in whether or not a cool cast can make uninspired material worth watching.

Throw it on and forget your troubles.

A thriller shipped with familiar parts but also a flair for character work and consequences that come from codes rooted in carnage. It lays its charges well amid a minefield of mistrust, triggering displays of power both vulgar or barely visible.
