The Invisible Man Reviews
After a woman leaves her abusive boyfriend, he uses his ability to become invisible to stalk and terrorize her. The Invisible Man is a fantastic suspense horror film. I loved the performances, the atmosphere, and the tense opening sequence. The whole concept of being watched by someone/something that can see you but you can’t see it, is terrifying! I appreciate a horror movie that doesn’t rely on predictable jump scares, but rather using the suspense to create a feeling of dread and anticipation. I loved how you had to pay attention to certain scenes or shots to try and notice subtle hints that the invisible man is there, like slight noises, or an object moving on its own. It really creeps you out Overall, I enjoyed this modern adaptation of H.G. Wells’s classic novel. It was well acted, written, and directed, and the cinematography and music were outstanding. I definitely recommend giving this film a watch!
I could see the man.
Such a well done reimagining of the story
So so good. An amazing thriller.
The Invisible Man is outstanding in every way. The ending (which I won’t reveal) caps the film perfectly. Oh, and it’s also a suspense-on-high trip.
A terrifying thriller of a monster obsessed with a woman fighting to escape his clutches. This amazing sci-fi horror will keep you on the edge of your seat in suspense.
This film might entertain you if you can dispense with any common sense and ignore all the ludicrous moments where characters do something totally and utterly dumb, or don't do things that any normal person would do! Oh, and the gaping plot holes. It's a shame because it has an interesting premise but it's clumsily executed, and if you're tuned to details it will be irritating as hell!
This is way 0ver ratted.
Jodie Foster in Super Hysterisch.
The Invisible Man - 10/10. I revisited this in preparation of Wolf Man, and it reminded me of how great this movie is! Leigh Whannell interestingly reboots this classic Universal monster movie into a sci-fi psychological thriller. And what powers this movie forward is the brilliant performance from Elisabeth Moss. What a gifted performer she is! Its tough to carry a movie, let alone a film where the antagonist is nowhere to be seen. Its all up to her reactions and her sheer force of performance that makes this movie more than your usual horror movie. Her performance as a woman who escapes a highly toxic relationship only to be gaslit into insanity is truly harrowing. And, its a performance like Toni Collette’s in Hereditary that had it been in a run of the mill drama would’ve easily snagged award nominations. But the movie is more than just a horror film: its a dialogue about horrible relationships, and how abusive and disturbing the fallout from a toxic relationship can end up. The movie also does an amazing job of making you feel what the lead is feeling. You feel the anxious nature of possibly being surveilled and watched, and the uncomfortable feeling of having the past coming back to you as well. Its an interesting twist on the famed story, and its done so with great acting, direction, music, and overall production values! Also, one of the best endings in a horror movie in recent times too. One of the best horror movies of the 2020’s, so far!
Spoilers Below. I've seen it a while ago and I just barely remember a girl running from her ex, who builds an invisible high-tech suit to stalk her endlessly until he slips up and she finds out and tries to... drum roll.... run again. Wow.. yeah.. Reasons for not giving it 1 star only? I vaguely recall some thriller moments in the movie.
Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man suffers from one-dimensional storytelling that reduces men to irredeemable villains and women to passive victims. The male antagonist, Adrian Griffin, is portrayed as a controlling monster with no nuance, perpetuating the idea that men are inherently prone to extremes. Meanwhile, the female protagonist, Cecilia, is defined solely by her victimhood, lacking agency or complexity beyond her trauma. This oversimplified dynamic undermines the film’s potential, sacrificing depth and balanced representation for a narrow narrative. True storytelling requires nuanced characters on all sides, but Whannell’s approach reinforces harmful stereotypes rather than challenging them
A really slow movie in the start but it is crazy in the end.
I loved this and the visual effects were incredible and movie 🎥 was so amazing and intense and it was so relatable and great lead actress and she blew it off the screen and phenomenal performance!!! Would love to see a part 2???
Good tension and great questions posed, but I thought the third act dragged a bit.
He will inject a dose of tension, agony and fear, and the full effect of this injection will take a long and dark time to wear off.
Really entretaining, but nothing out of this world
It was way too much of a slow burn to be enjoyable, it had an interesting twist on who the Invisiable man was, but that was it. Overall, it felt like a fake reverse psychological movie. The ending also felt completely out of place.
