The Keeper Reviews
Horrific story. Always children.
"The Keeper", is an inspirational film based on true life's events of Bert Trautmann, a German prisoner of war in Britain to become a historical iconic goalie amidst the post World War II prejudice. Evocatively directed and superbly acted by all characters, particularly David Kross (Bert) & Freya Mavor (Margaret), also Harry Melling, this film strikes at one's heartstrings & poignantly illustrates the best and worst of human behavior. When we define fellow humans beyond geographic borders and political affiliations, the possibility of fundamental qualities of love, Goodness and genuineness of spirit manifest themselves. The Keeper is a superb film for a mature audience !
A bit facile at times but a message worthy of telling.
Amazing Film !!! Watch it Today !!! Loved it !!
Superb sports true story about the legend that is Burt Trautmann. I would of given 5 stars if the movie went a little more in depth, for instance he escaped from a Russian prisoner of war camp, and Man City played a friendly against his then non league team to get a closer look at his talents. Non the less it's a superb low budget film, and is a must see for football fans, especially young Man City fans, who should know about the best goalkeeper that the English game has ever seen, and what he endured to come from nazi soldier to getting an OBE
The keeper was an excellent drama movie directed by Marcus H. Rosenmuller and realized in 2018, the film speaks about many subjects like the second world war, football, love story and many others. I really like the story and the characters, especially the main characters who was a German soldier. I really like also the developing of the main characters and the point of Vue of the Inglish people about the German soldiers. The places and the landscapes were very loyal to the original places of the years 1930-1940 ‘s. I think watch this film it's not a waste of time.
I really like this movie. First, because it tells an impossible love story between a German soldier and an English woman after the Second World War. I admire the evolution of the main character. This man still managed to get out of this difficult life and change his destiny. In addition to that, the story is even more touching because it is based on real facts. The only complaint is that the film takes a long time to start and there are no actions at the beginning.
I really appreciated the movie because the plot is interesting. Then, it well represents the difficulties of the soldiers to fit in the society after the Second World War. In fact, it gives another vision of the war through a simple subject as the football game. The love story between the two main characters is a way to humanize the soldiers and to understand that they can have some feelings for people and that being a soldier wasn't their choice. Finally, I think that this movie is accessible to everybody and I advice you to go see it.
This movie is very original and moving. It is the story of a German soldier, Bert Trautman, who was captured by the English army and sent to a camp in England. He's recruited to be a goalkeeper in the local team and he became really famous. The fact that we know that it's inspired by a true story brings an even more interesting dimension to the film. The characters are endearing and we are fully immersed in the story. The point about the old demons of Trautmann and his regrets could have been more developed, but it remains a very good movie nonetheless.
I really appreciated the values conveyed by this film based on the true story of a former German prisoner in England, who became a goalkeeper for the great Manchester City team after the war. It's a beauteful story wichs prove that there is hope after the war, and I think it's a great story and i'ts really emotional. In fact I like love stories especially the one between Margaret and Bert . A very good biopic and a very good movie.
Bernhard Carl "Bert" Trautmann EK OBE (22 October 1923 – 19 July 2013) was a German professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Manchester City Although not completely factual this movie was entertaining. The acting was decent. The editing could have been better. The story was inspiring. If you watch purley for entertainment value this was enjoyable, IMHO. After the film look up the real story of Trautmann.
hopeful tone seems to say you can overcome almost anything.
Awesome movie, great message on forgiveness and reconciliation. May Jesus be glorified!
An absorbing true period piece that, I thought, was a perfect balance of romance drama, and reality without laboring any particular point of view.
The Keeper is a biopic of an extraordinary life if not making for an extraordinary film. This is the story of Bert Trautmann, a German soldier who would become a legendary goalkeeper playing in England. Trautmann was captured near the end of World War Two and was sent to a POW camp in Lancashire. When the war was over instead of returning home he stayed in England, where he made the local football team. After starring for them he was plucked to play in the top flight for Manchester City. But his German roots came back to haunt him as the English fans were not so easy to forgive him, with many protests and clamour following him everywhere. During this time he also married an English girl. In effect this film is more of a romantic drama then a sports film, with focus on the relatioship that ensued. The film does fall into cliche at times and can feel a touch heavy handed, but mostly it is quite an enjoyable film about a man who led a quite extraordinary life.
The adult life story and career of Bert Trautmann is certainly one worthy of telling and seeing, but the film representing this follows the textbook far too heavily. As a result, THE KEEPER is noticeably corny too often and many of its elements are heavily foreseeable.
An incredibly well scripted, directed and moving story all the more for it being based on fact with great photograph, really good editing, and a clever cast. Very good!
Anglo-German production, 온라인카지노추천-movie(ish); two-dimensional fare. But the amazing story and a dollop of charm, makes this a hell of a lot better than it should be. This is a straightforward historical romance. But it's well played by Kross as Trautmann, and Mavor as his wife Margaret. And Henshaw gives a typically excellent performance as plain-speaking, Northern dad. It should be terrible, but it's a really watchable film, and a very good football film to boot. The CGI recreation of 1950's football stadiums is amazing. It takes dramatic licence, but still brings home the Cup.
