The Kill Room Reviews
The movie was quite interesting and a bit macabre!
Not a formula movie at all. but I greatly enjoyed the creativeness and unpredictability. This is not a character development movie, but rather a fun satire, that makes light of elitism and downright snobbery of the high end art world. And, Uma Thurman delivers with impeccable comedic timing throughout.
Much better than the ratings would lead you to believe. Good entertainment and not to be taken seriously at all.
Uma's great - but her art dealing of the "Bagman"'s work doesn't go anywhere. It's not shocking and it's not a good poke at the weird people of the art world.
The acting was good and the movie kept my attention throughout. I like the plot and the artsy concept of the film, however the ending left me a little confused and somewhat disappointed. After watching I have a sudden urge to paint something.
Though the plot is common, I gave it a high rating due to excellent acting by all. Comical and tongue-in-cheek expressions and dialogs are exceptional. The arrangement and cuts for the plot are well planned. Background music pleasing and really a surprise. The flow of the movie, smooth etc... And all of these come together nicely, not forcing in anyway. Seldom seen even in Oscar winners. I watched it many time repeatedly and surprisingly, every time it comes across.
70/100 - havent seen uma therman in a while. quirky movie, cool plot, dark humor. was pretty good worth watching
It's slightly entertaining in a curious and macabre way. The biggest plus is a completely innovative script, looking at certain aspects of life in a very fresh skurril way. It's not a must-see, but good enough to while away those 90 minutes. 6/10 points.
The movie had me laughing and scratching my head. It underscores how the art world and the underworld are linked. Those of us with both dirt and paint on our hands see that truth. It was refreshing to hear feelings tied to critique of emerging work. The story behind the artists relationship to their craft is everything. What I see here is the actress Uma Thurman doing a fabulous job as the art dealer filling in the gaps of understanding for the audience.
A suprisingly good film with Samuel and Uma spot on and great together, decent plot and script make this a worth watch. You dont have to like art to enjoy this film. Thought Uma was a crack up in that character, if you happen to be in the art scene you will appreciate Umas role all the more. All the lead roles were superbly cast and acted out, thought it was great fun to watch
Such a good cast, I mean Uma Thurman was astonishing, a good piece of comedy, satire and refreshing 90 minutes.
It had a great cast and intriguing premise, yet it fell flat on its face, failing to deliver a interesting narrative. The film's progression felt disjointed, limping from one scene to the next with the only thing keeping me interested is if there was going to be a big twist (there was not as much as it tries to give the illusion of one in the end with an oceans 11 style run down of events). The comedy was bland and shallow. At times the cast just seemed to be going through the motions.
I am really surprised this was poorly accepted. I thought the acting was super, as was the dark tone and ending. The ruthlessness or relative incompetence of the principle actors came in at the correct pace. From initially disturbing and off-putting, the pretentiousness of art-world people was well framed into a satisfying conclusion.
The cast was here for The Kill Room but sad to say it was all for nothing. I was excited as well because I was happy to see Uma Thurman reunite with Samuel L. Jackson. Then come to find out this pairing was completely wasted by a bad and uninteresting script. This movie is even bad for straight to dvd standards as it wasn't even entertaining in the bad kind of way. The movie is a little over an hour and 30 minutes but yet still feels like a 2 hour plus film. I also think it was false advertising as it was promoted as an action/comesy, only problem is it is missing both of these ingredients. The Kill Room should have never been greenlighted by studio executives. The Kill Room gets a boring 1 1/2 stars out of 5.
Pretty weak! I would not recommend it. I've probably seen worse movies, but this is definitely close to the bottom. Some of these actors just needed to get paid. Uma and Jackson are usually in better movies. As for Joe, this is in par with his abilities. I'm glad he got paid.
Watched this on a 4-hour flight - good way to kill an hour and a half. Pretty amusing.
I think it didn't end up being what it was trying to be and it fell off that track pretty early. Uma Thurman's version of "unhinged" (if that's even what they were going for) was more confusing and distracting than comedic. Probably sounds ridiculous but the whole time I was thinking what Snatch/Lock Stock-era Guy Ritchie could have done with the premise and characters.
Can't believe these actors lowered themselves to such standards.
