The Killer Reviews
Fun and a good twist.
I paid money for this on Prime. From the start it was just a bad movie. Nothing about it seemed well scripted and tacky AF
Watching this film reminded me how John Woo, in many ways is responsible for some of the greatest action scenes in modern filmmaking. His style of filmmaking had a great deal to do with the style of filmmaking in films like John Wick and Kill Bill. This remake of a 1980's film staring Chow Yun-Fat is an ambitious and noteworthy undertaking but it is not as good as the original, nor is it as good of many of Woo's films. His Silent Night, in recent years, is a masterpiece. This is not; however, there are a lot of good elements and scenes in this one. I caught it on Prime and was glad I did; although, had I paid full price in the theater I may have felt differently.
Nathalie Emmanuel was passable, but the rest of the acting (esp Omar Sy) is awful. Screenplay very ordinary. Not even the great Eric Cantona could save this with a free kick from the box. Sam Worthington's accent as an Irishman is woeful. Do yourself a favour. Do not waste 2 hours on this tripe.
Average acting movies with predictable story that has been used many times. The lead actor got over hyped which she doesn't deserve.Average time pass movie.
Finally a John Woo film like the old days! Stylish, bloody and pigeons in slow motion! What more could you want? Absolutely perfect!
I have the habit of coming across remakes before watching the original but given how often Hollywood churns them out it shouldn’t be surprising. More often than not, I find the original and become a fan of it instead of the remake, but this glossy remake earns some points from its style, and I found this one advertised on the Peacock streaming. Nathalie Emmanuel’s gorgeousness caught my eye as well as some well shot action scenes and I thought to myself, why not? Zee is a gorgeous woman living in Paris making a living by killing as a skilled assassin who sticks to a code of honor by killing those that deserve it. Only she ends up being used in a pawn to kill not just vicious men but a helpless woman at a club. All this as a Detective is on the case of a missing cache of heroin that the helpless woman seems to be connected with. Lies and the truth is revealed in an amazing display of action. I wish I could see the original, but this was splendid. Clearly the movie was made attempting to cater to women as well as men by elevating a lovely woman as an action star, but action movies always cater to men and when your female star kicks butt in leather pants, it fulfills this ideal. Nathalie Emmanuel is a gorgeous woman who has a long way to go as an actress, but she does work hard in this movie with the action. John Woo is still a fine director but clearly, he was brought out to work this remake with his seal of approval. But there have been great remakes before and while not great is still a good watch.
This movie is refreshingly different. The plot is good, albeit a bit over the top, but still well executed. The actors deliver strong performances, and the tension between Zee and Sey is electrifying. Plus, Sam Worthington proves he can play a villain too. I really enjoyed the film.
Yet another half-baked story with a 100 pound girl who we are expected to believe is some kind of super woman. I have no clue why Sam Worthington is pretending to be an Irishman. I expected more from Jon Woo. Not worth the time to watch it.
She causes a girl to go blind while she's murdering like 6 thugs. Weird for the plot to be about an assasin that suddenly crew a conscience - but it's got some good action scenes.
I saw it for the first time yesterday! It kept me and my fiancé on the edge of our seets, it was well written kept us interested to keep watching because it was already late! I want to watch it again! For a thriller action movie I liked it!
John Woo made good choice of actors, Nathalie Emmanuel as Zee carries off a slightly unbelievably talented assassin, yet i detect a slight tongue-in-cheek, over-the-topness to her character, but lovable, even when i wondered why she was doing what she was. I stayed withholding negative judgement while my wife left it and retired to bed. There was a trickle of clues leading me to believe in where the Killer was going, which by the end was uplifting despite hugely high 'death rate' precipitated, and somehow 'just deserts ' was rained upon those deserving. And as boy and girl, didn't get it together, left a door ajar for a followup movie that i would love to see. Nathalie Emmanuel as Zee was gorgeously engrossing character, maintaining twists and plot turns and delightful gymnastic sequences. While an amount of her character was artfully revealed , over time, there is plenty more questions another film could address, with lots of room for Omar Sy as Sey, to be a part of.
Action packed, stunning, crazy bullet time moments, and of course one thing left that did justice, and that's the performance of Nathalie Emmanuel as Zee!
Nathalie Emanuel stars in this John Woo movie. Action packed. Plays Zee a hooker turned hit woman but she’s in trouble when she refuses to kill an inocentes blind woman. Good action like all Woo movies 🍿🍿🍿/5 on Peacock
Around 43:40-50 i was very disappointed about the edit, before she turn right the front has another street but then when to turned there was only blocks.
The movie does show a consistent presentation of John Woo's style in action movies. As a fan of his movies of A Better Tomorrow and Hard Boiled, I saw many of the same actions with the shooting scenes in the movie. While I do not hate the shooting scenes, it would have been nice to have a little more creativity with this project. The theme is good with new cast of actors and actresses that made the film good to watch. This action movie is better than many of the ones that I had previously watched.
Filme: The Killer Assistido: 15-10-24 Elenco: @nathalieemmanuel @omarsyofficial @samworthingtonbr @tcheky.karyo @ericcantona @aurelia_agel @john_woo_filmmaker @dianasilverss Modelo: #ação #policial #gangsters Duração: 2h Ano: 2024 Minha opinião: 35 anos depois do 1º filme John Woo faz meio remaker. Vale apena assistir? Se não tiver outra opção. Nota: 5,5
I rarely watch new movies or shows. when i do, i am usually disappointed.
