Fantastic! It's depressingly rare to find a intelligently written and directed movie these days. More like this please!

I absolutely enjoyed it while having little to no knowledge about the actual historical circumstances. All i can say that it had me glued to the screen from beginning to end and the performace of the actors were incredible.

Timothée Chalamet is one of those actors who consistently puts himself out there to engage and captivate audiences. In "The King," a film released on Netflix, he takes on a medieval role as a young monarch striving to assert his power and prove himself. The film presents a fresh perspective on the challenges of leadership. Chalamet not only showcases his remarkable acting skills but also solidifies his status as a true movie star. Unlike many actors who might gravitate toward lighthearted roles or superhero franchises, he is strategically selecting projects that highlight his talent and keep him in the conversation for awards—demonstrating a commitment to meaningful filmmaking without compromising his artistic integrity. That said, the film does feel a bit lengthy at times. There are moments when it drags, making it difficult to remain engaged with the narrative. I believe some scenes could have benefited from more creative world-building to immerse viewers in the medieval experience, rather than merely presenting it as a historical account where viewers are primarily there for Chalamet's performance. While the film delivers on some levels, it lacks a certain excitement that would elevate it to the status of a true cinematic masterpiece. It doesn’t quite have that rewatchability factor that I often look for; if a film doesn’t hold up upon a second viewing, it may struggle to stand the test of time. Although I appreciated "The King" for its initial viewing experience, I don't feel compelled to revisit it. It’s a solid film that I enjoyed, but ultimately, it feels more like a one-time experience rather than a classic worth returning to.

One of the best movies on Netflix. Maybe the best.

This movie is way underrated and I’m not sure why it’s not talked about more especially in regards to Chalamets performance. I’ve seen it 4 times and each time I enjoy it more and more. It’s so well designed and seamless. Every time I watch it there’s new things I notice and appreciate. I’m always especially in awe of the closings scenes. Most flawless execution of a “plot twist” delivered by Timmy and Lilly. Regardless of if a viewer was able to predict it or not. Overall 10/10 story and delivery.

Everything is perfect about this movie. Seriously. So tired of the “wish the narrative was more” this or that from people now days. Love this take and vision on Henry V and his rise. Love the music. Love the acting. 5 stars all around. Chalamet knocks it completely out of the park with his performance- verbally his tone and pitch always perfection. Visually stunning scenes.

Solid semi-historical film. I would rather it hewed closer to the real narrative, but the language was great, the actors and characters compelling, and battle scenes believable. The political take was different from other films of the timeframe. I love seeing portrayals of different ages and this one captures the feeling of this era the way a pirate movie captures the 1500s. In other words, not very well, but in a way that is very entertaining.

A young man takes the thrown. He is not his father, who was war hungry, and asserted dominance through battle. He envisions a different pathway for Rome, yet faces his own challenges. Who can he trust?

I thought this was so good. I'm a big fan of Timothée Chalamet. I also loved how every scene played its part, giving good action and adventure. Ok, also, I watched other medieval movies, but this one is low-key good, fire, and bussing.

The King (O Rei), is a work that manages to balance drama and intensity in an authentic way, and Timothée Chalamet's performance is simply flawless. I've never seen him so convincing in an authoritative role, and each scene feels like a perfect build-up to the character he becomes. The plot, even though it follows a traditional line, manages to capture attention from start to finish. Even when small flaws appear, they don't diminish the dramatic weight of the story. The dark design and costumes are excellent, and the adaptation adds a layer of depth without losing its visual and philosophical strength. Without a doubt, The King (2019), is an experience worth watching.

It was well done. Subdued when necessary. Good have been full of blood and gore but the sparseness allowed the story to emerge

Honestly the most underrated film I’ve seen in a while. It just feels authentic and has epic performances all round along with dialogue you find yourself muttering after delivery such as the apple moment from arguably the films best character, sir John. I loved it and I’m truly difficult to impress.

This is how you make a solid one-off movie without making it overlong and tedious. Good performances and cinematography. The battles were realistic as well.

"Le Roi" est un bon film grâce à ses dialogues finement écrits qui enrichissent l'intrigue, et par sa photographie remarquable, où la lumière et les couleurs sont très bien utilisées pour créer une atmosphère visuellement saisissante. La performance de Timothée Chalamet est exceptionnelle, incarnant avec brio la transformation du jeune prince en roi déterminé, rendant chaque scène crédible et émotive.
