The Last Showgirl Reviews
This movie seems to be trying to perpetuate the dumb blonde persona. I wish that it had emphasized that people really do learn a lot by the time they are seniors even if they don't plan well for the future.
Pamela Anderson gives a dramatic performance in a “serious” movie that’s a great fun movie watch and a supporting cast that makes the movie feel 1/2 drama and 1/2 comedy
If you have a beautiful daughter who may be down the road of trading on her good looks... take her to this. I don't think PA is a great actress, but she was perfect for this. A hard look at life, but a good movie.
This was a painful movie to watch. It was brutally real.
Really great performances. Could have fleshed out the 4 main characters a bit more. But really a showcase for Pamela Anderson. Worth seeing.
Good film but somewhat thin story
This definitely was Pamela Anderson's comeback with her finest performance - I cannot think of anyone else who could portray this character, Shelly, who finds out that her Las Vegas review where she has been a fixture is closing after 30 years. You can see the shock, despair and vulnerability on her face when she finds out her career is over in a few weeks. She chose not to wear alot of makeup & I commend her for this. It's a spot on script for our culture which depicts a woman aging out of the system because she is too old for her profession and shows her struggle to get back out there to look for a job. Jamie Lee Curtis did not disappoint with her portrayal of a washed up casino cocktail waitress - the makeup for her character was spot on!! I would definitely recommend this film.
Pamela Anderson is incredible in this role, but it's Jamie Lee Curtis who steals the show. Do not miss it, and at 90 minutes, it is perfect in every way.
Terrible plot line. Hand held camera for shooting, made us all dizzy! Hard to hear the dialog. The lighting was so dark you couldn't see who was speaking what lines. It was so confusing. Story was choppy, and no background info to understand the relationships as they were present day. So disappointed.
Every scene adds to the value and pace of the film. It’s a story we all can relate to in regards of pursuing our passions. It ask what becomes of a dream when it’s time to move on? Who are we without it? Yeah it was dope
great cast, well directed, beautiful and sensative story.
fantastic acting by Pamela and Jamie Lee curtis!!
Pamela Anderson was amazing. Jamie Lee Curtis is also amazing playing a broken character (see also her performance in The Bear as Carmines mom). Very cool cinematography of the costumes and Vegas. The movie as a whole though just gets slightly downgraded IMO because of the choppiness/gaps of the characters in the story.
Meh. That’s all I’ve got.
The Last Showgirl is by no means a perfect movie , in fact i would say it's the type of movie that lives in the perfections. But there are some pretty solid performances, one in particular Miss Pamela Anderson. Her character is deeply flawed, but also very endearing. There were few moments of ingenuity , but also vulnerability in the darker scenes. True raw emotion where maybe art was imitating life for Anderson. Jamie Lee Curtis also turns out a strong performance as well (one i personally found more Oscar worthy than her performance in Everything Everywhere imo). Kieran Shipka and Brenda Song also turned out great performances as well. Not much there story wise tho, The movie ends very bittersweet but the journey is definitely worth the watch. Pamela is definitely deserving of a SAG award this year, and i don't see how her fellow actors wouldn't vote for her, 3.5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Didnt like it much. Pretty boring. I like Pamela and root for her and wanted to love it but just didnt.
It was a good movie and good story line. Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis did fantastic work as Las Vegas Showgirls. They dedicated their entire lives to Vegas. Highly recommended this movie.
Creative, lyrical cinematography and complex characters make for one of the best films I've seen this year. The complicated and deep older female friendship of Jamie Lee Curtis's and Pamela Anderson's characters is something rarely seen on screen--- powerful and memorable.
Well conceived story. Well acted. Pamela Anderson was great.
A great cast and the movie was great. Pamala Anderson deserves recognition as a real actor.
