The movie was unbearable and a complete waste of time. There were far too many unnecessary changes, poor acting, and subpar CGI.

It didn’t make sense that Disney changed the name of Ariel’s sisters in the 2023 live action, and the was not a single scene of Chef Louis that made the original 1989 movie fun, at least Vanessa was the best in her role in my opinion.

Just disappointing. Stay true to the original if the plan is a live action version.

The Little Mermaid live-action remake of the original tries its best to be the same if not a better, version of the original and yet fails miserably at it. I can agree that the movie has great actors to an extent. Halle Bailey isn’t bad by any means. Her acting is alright, and she has a wonderful singing voice, but I also feel like some of the other characters were just ok at best. The costume choices aren’t the best, in my opinion, and I feel like if they wanted to have better designs, they could have easily taken the original designs from the 1989 verison and added more detail to it such as they did with the live-action Cinderella. The songs are also just ok, in my opinion. They try to stand out against the original but fail at that as well. While the CGI for this movie isn’t bad, it’s not good either. Each scene is more boring than the last, and over time, I’m sitting and watching and just wishing the movie would end. The only other good thing i can think of is the fact they gave Prince Eric more character and lore in this version than the original. I feel like, for people’s sake, I’d watch this movie once and then just go watch the original. The 1989 version is much better, and the live-action version just wishes it was as high as the original we all know and love.

Absolutely loved the movie. People complain about anything and everything. If Ariel was white, most of the complaints this movie has wouldn't exist. I love that Prince Eric actually has a personality, he's not just a man there to kiss like in the first one, he's actually a person. 10/10.

I was extremely disappointed that they didn't stick to the original story. I get what they were trying to accomplish but I don't think they did a good job. I also hated that Ariel didn't look anything like the cartoon. It just sucked!

Soy fan de La Sirenita desde que era muy chica. Fue mi primera película favorita, completé el álbum de figuritas y me sabía cada canción. Esta nueva versión me pareció muy lejana a la esencia del personaje original. No conecté emocionalmente, sentí que me cambiaron algo muy querido de mi infancia. Valoro la diversidad y me encantaría ver nuevas historias con princesas de todos los colores y culturas. Pero creo que cambiar personajes tan icónicos no es el camino. Ariel era Ariel. Esta no lo fue.

Sorry, but the girl had no chemistry with the prince. Bad very bad unfortunately. I don't understand where all of these 'nice' reviews are coming from... I will have to watch the original animated movie to forget what I just saw. I did like the prince though.

The best live-action remake alongside Cruella, Aladdin, and Cinderella. The Little Mermaid featured a fantastic performance by Halle, whose musical numbers were phenomenal. Melissa was amazing as Ursula. The chemistry between Jonah and Halle was palpable; giving them similar interests was a great choice that elevated their romance. Casting a singer like Halle as Ariel was a brilliant decision and should be a standard for future live-action remakes.

They already made a cartoon movie version of this like decades ago, and it was honestly much better.

Absolutely amazing movie from start to finish, Ariel is a very soft, sweet girl with great singing, and Halle was the perfect choice for casting Halle is a very soft spoken lady and amazing singer and amazing acting skill!

Halle Bailey’s performance really made this movie so amazing to watch. Her rendition of the classic songs also outperformed the originals and i find myself listening to her version instead of it. The only part of this movie that felt lackluster was Triton’s performance and because of that, it gets 0.5 stars docked from its rating. He did not have the intensity that the original gave him which made those scenes feel very… underwhelming in comparison to what it should have been. Amazing movie overall! I have rewatched it 3 times!

Halle is a great Ariel. She is sweet, charismatic and her voice is beautiful. but the movie was very dark in many scenes. it was hard to see what was happening, mainly in the final act.

It’s just so bad, poor flounder. Melissa McCarthy salvaged what she could of the film. She played the part so well. She needed to be in more of it. Disney please find your magic.
