The Lost King Reviews
Loved the characters who I found very sympathetic . I laughed and felt sad and kept rooting for the heroine. Great story, and exciting to see what happened next. Wonderful cast of many beloved British actors Ive loved and enjoyed for many years. Great story!
I remember when this actually happened. I loved the story! Great character developement.
Slow beginning but worth hanging in there. Superb acting by Sally Hawkins. Based on a true story.
Lovely movie, great story
As good as it gets, both directing and acting
Wonderful film about listening to your feelings and because of their feelings one of the greatest modern archeologies findings was discovered. Sally Hawkins has to be one of the best actresses of the modern era and she gets to display her talents here. If you are a fan of history, British history, or rooting for the underdog, then go see this film.
Excellent movie.. Recovered history well told true story
Great acting and a fascinating story.
A fantastic script and film. Funny. Inspiring. And Steve Coogan look gorgeous.
Liked very much. Interesting true story.
Excellent story line and exemplary acting. A story well told
This movie took a subject that could have been boring and made it both exciting, imaginative and timely. Excellent acting, especially by Sally H. I’m an avowed Anglophile who loves history—this woman’s “quest” is told intelligently and with a lot of heart. Highly recommend for anyone who is in love with history and connecting with it.
This is a nice well done movie. Many of the actors and actresses will be familiar to those who watch a fair number of British productions. The story is interesting but it lags just a little as it seems undecided. Is it the story of the main characters obsession or is it the story of Richard III? While the film is fairly well paced, I would have like to see more scenes of the main character putting together the clues that led her to find Richard III. He obsession only peeps out from under the covers for a few minutes here and there. I would have like to see more passion in her. I guess, in a way I am asking for more of the main character AND more of Richard III. My guess is it was left on the cutting room floor. I feel like I'm being pretty harsh, but all in all I enjoyed the film and think a lot of other people will to.
The movie was WONDERFUL!!!!! I remember the news reports about how Richard III's remains had been found -- and how extraordinary it was!!!! And this movie tells the full tale -- including the skepticism faced by the woman who was eventually proven right -- as well as the sexism and unfair treatment at the hands of the university. I HIGHLY recommend this movie -- it is well done, well-acted, and the story is incredible.
I saw the movie today it was fantastic. I read her book after the story was broken. I thought the cinematic representation of Phillipa's story was awesome. Wonderful acting on the part of the entire cast.
Really got engaged right away, very interesting. I did have a tiny bit of trouble getting the Scots accent, tho. All in all, a really good movie, I even teared up at the end!
Like history, Sally Hawkins and Steve Coogan? This one’s for you! Stephen Frears is a great director and the movie has a happy ending! What more could you ask for?
Very moving story of resilience and faith overcoming emotional and physical challenges.
The scenery, the story, the hallucination of the king, the acting!
salt Hawkins always wonderful. Steve Coogan ha descended from his comic pinnacle to playing sad saps but he did write a delightful story based on a real life heroine for Sally to play. love history of English kings / Shakespeare even if he did get it wrong sometimes. this movie is a delight
