I’m a horror fan all the way but with this movie I just didn’t get it. Seemed to be just one injury torture after another with no real “ heart” to the movie..if there was a point to one of Lolas victims being the guy in the road that made Brent run into the tree, or any point to Jamie and Mias date then I missed it…I don’t even get why all the guys were zombies…

I thought this was done excellent! Great timing, creepy story, good acting, and kept me interested right to the end. I do recommend to any fan of thriller/horror/suspense genres.

"The Loved Ones" sets the stage early on and is a deranged ride from that moment forward. The movie is disgusting and brutal and I found myself consistently uncomfortable and tense. There is a subplot that I felt confused by for most of it but then realized what the purpose was in the final act. The movie is a lot for me as this type of horror is not my first choice, but I think it is effective in what it is trying to do. Overall, it is genuinely pretty scary to imagine being in this sort of situation, and an impressive movie that does all of the necessary tasks in just over 80 minutes.

I mean it looks great (on blu ray) well shot and the score is decent. I also can't fault the acting but ultimately it's a nothing burger of violence and mild titillation; if you're a teenage boy I can recommend this film, however I'm not sure there is much there for adults. The B story involving a kid who seems to have stepped out of the 70s (I think he's wearing flares) and the goth hot chick serves absoltuley no purpose other than to pad the film out to get it to an acceptable running time for a feature film. John Brumpton who plays "Daddy" played a similarly violent nut job "Poppy" in a film made around the same time 2007's "Storm Warning" that film is equally as violent as this one however it actually has a plot. I would recommend watching that instead as while also not a masterpiece it is good fun and not as light on plot as "The Loved ones"

This film eviscerates movies like Scream a new one. Very underappreciated film and has to be up there among the best horror films of the aughts.

Xavier Samuel and Robin McLeavy's performance mixed with the gritt and realism makes this movie an absolute masterpiece! One of the best horror movies ever, if not the best of all time, better than 'THE BABADOOK' (also an Australian horror, but way more famous)!

Not a good movie. Nothing of substance. The gore isn’t realistic enough to be impactful. Laughably bad effects at certain points and I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t be conscious and walking around let alone driving and exacting revenge with a hole drilled in your head. Skip it.

my favorite horror movie ever (have seen 13 times). lola is such an amazing villain and i can help but obsess over her. xavier samuel does a good job playing brent as well. and the score is beautiful.

Over hyped and over rated. A cool score and moments of good direction but mostly a generic torture porn film

I watched this years ago as a teen ans it always stuck in my head. Rewatching it now as an adult and I honestly forgot how insane it was. The gore is stomach turning. The acting absolutely incredible. Such a fucked up and original idea. Aussie horror just doesn't miss. One of my top favs of all time for sure. Even my partner who isn't into gore or horror enjoyed it and it had him hooked. Highly recommend but be warned it is not for the faint of heart.

This movie was gross and too disturbing to actually enjoy. Well made and well acted, but I did not enjoy the experience of watching it so I can't recommend it. Also, there was nothing funny in it so not sure what they are talking about when they refer to comedic moments other than if you think a psychopathic murderer is funny

The Loved Ones was absolutely sadistic. It turned the teen horror genre upside down in the most demented way imaginable. It's a blast. 10/10

This movie had a little bit of everything - most of it bad, and repetitively bad. When a movie has everything, that means it never had a theme, a purpose, or a plot - just a bunch of content and some of it in slow motion to take up more time. There was some clever camera work, and it's a real shame that it went to waste on such garbage. There are 3 million screenwriters in the world, surely someone could have done better.

Absolutely phenomenal horror movie. Good story, good suspense, and some torture.

A really good movie from down under. Neat story and some pretty gnarly scenes.

I had mixed feelings walking into this one. The critical reviews are off the charts, but torture porn is usually done poorly. I was pleasantly (and grossly) surprised by this gem from down under. The plot is a one off that works to keep the movie…what's the word…believable? I had empathy for the characters, so that means writing, acting and directing are all moving the story forward effectively. I "enjoyed" it because of all of that. It was also well edited to keep the runtime down. Compared with recent lazy movies from the torture porn category (I see you "Terrifier"), this is Shakespearean!
