The Man Reviews
Waste of time. The last good movie levy was in was Splash.
Can a bad film be taken as an intentional joke with frivolity? The story's agreeably pointless, especially considering its inferior craftsmanship by the involved crew, but its decent highlight is the comedic dynamic solely between Samuel L. Jackson and Eugene Levy. (C)
The Man feels like a Midnight Run rehash, but I enjoyed the chemistry between Eugene Levy and Samuel L. Jackson were funny together.
I only recently discovered this movie on Tubi. For myself it had many authentic laugh out loud moments. I am a big fan of both Samuel L. Jackson and Eugene Levy. This movie plays to the strengths of each actor. I felt they really worked well together. I really enjoy movies that I consider "fun" and The Man certainly fits that criteria for me!
With these two it should have been better. Funny but hit or miss.
I just wanted it to make me laugh and it did. Teally funny, for me it was super, in spite of the years I still want to see it again
While Samuel L. Jackson and Eugene Levy play their normal typecast parts in this movie it is still fun seeing these two act together in a cliche cop movie and surprisingly they actually have good chemistry together.
While it's not exactly Rush Hour or even The Other Guys, The Man hits the funny bone with enough laughs due to the comedic chemistry between Samuel L. Jackson and Eugene Levy.
An odd comedy that doesn't quite work. The 'chalk and cheese' duo premise is nothing new and although it unforgivably descends into toilet humour to try and scrape some laughs, it does have some amusing and entertaining moments in it.
It felt like the only reason Samuel Jackson & Eugene Levy were put together in this movie was to see if it would work & hopefully $$$ would be made at the box office. There's nothing too The Man.It's just your basic, average, everyday buddy flick with a little action & some comedy thrown in.The only thing I really found funny was the scene where Eugene Levy was calling Samuel Jackson his B**** I really wanted to like this movie because pairing up Samuel Jackson with Eugene Levy was something different but I didn't.The Man turned out to be another 1 of those buddy flicks where if you've seen 1 than you've seen them all
The Man is as generic as they come. Despite the lack of originality and creativity, it remains a fun action comedy you can just chill and enjoy. Everyone knows these days that Samuel L Jackson will star in anything that comes his way, and alongside Eugene Levy as the awkward guy it can be a little hit and miss. Its a little tired and used formula but Eugene Levy does wells as the annoyingly irritating character to really grind his partners gears. At the end of the day, The Man, in parts is genuinely funny but can be cringeworthy and lame in others which makes the fact that its short and sweet a really good thing.
Absolutely terrible comedy buddy movie. Bearing in mind that Samuel L. Jackson and Eugene Levy have built their careers playing pretty much the same characters in each of their respective movies, you don't even need to see this to know exactly what it's going to be like. Take some advice: skip it and spend your 90 minutes more profitably elsewhere.
(43%) Maybe the most average comedies of the decade, if not ever. Jackson is clearly earning a wage whilst between projects, and everything feels like it is from at least another decade, and not in a good way. As a short sit that's mildly amusing/entertaining this is OK, but don't expect anything more.
