The Nest Reviews
So disappointing - the ending went nowhere.
There is almost nothing that happens in this film. I kept watching and thinking the entertaining or exciting part must be soon…. It never came
Slow moving, not sure where it was headed and then it just ended without resolution. Waste of time
Stuck with the very slow pace with prolonged lingering of the camera on scenes that werent interesting enough to justify it ,hoping at some point it would move along but it never did. It was clear at the beginning of the film what the dynamics were among the characters and what the character flaws were but it just never went anywhere with it to come to some dramatic closure. From RT the critics loved it but we movie viewers not so much. The acting was good but squandered on a movie that just wasnt that good.
The acting was dramatically well performed. The plot had potential but failed to live up to it. The ending comes abruptly as it will leave you confused and regretful of your movie decision.
This movie was Shite. It was like watching paint dry.
The minimum standards of a plot with a beginning, middle, and end are not met in this film. I'm not the one to say this is a requirement, but it's notable that the film isn't better off for it. Professional reviews of this film make it sound avant-garde and subtle, but that's just as contrived as the film itself. Even as a bad film, its bad. There is literally nothing to see here, other than an English manor, a buried horse, and character arcs so plodding and runny they abandon any pretense of a geometrical shape. There are no rewards, nuggets, or discernible meanings to chew on. Just a series of ponderous settings, people, animals, and objects in those settings, and loosely linear dialogue which ultimately amounts to a very dull experience.
Two talented leads could not save this dud. I watched a good hour and still had no idea the premise. Allison the wife appears bored. Her husband Rory is a loser Grifter. The End.
Terrible movie. I can’t believe anyone would give this a 90% much less the people who do this professionally.
I have no idea why this movie has such a high rating from critics. I am a movie fan and like all genres of movie. The acting was great in this, but that is all that I can say that is positive. There are plot lines (hints to the house being haunted, mother that is introduced) that go nowhere and are absolutely pointless. The movie is boring and just when you think they might make some sort of point, it ends.
When will I learn? A movie I’ve never heard of with top actors and 90% RT is never good. One of the worst. Oh my wife loses her movie picking privileges
Oh my goodness well let me just say I watched this because I read where it was supposed to be a great psychological thriller. Well it was not, far from it..... It bothered me how much the horse was in distress throughout the movie and being abused the night before it died.. I know it's a movie. but I cannot stand it when they show animals being hurt .. I gathered that it was her husband that hurt the horse for financial gain.. so you would think.. you waited for something to come about and nothing ever did.. I thought the mother would come home and find her daughter and all the kids passed out and stoned.. after that big drug party with about 50 kids... She calls her name, but doesn't even look if she's okay.... her digging up the horse crying was very disturbing and sad .. really disappointing whoever said it was a great psychological thriller.. it was just family drama, crazy bs and listening to the poor horse whining in distress.. it was actually more of a disturbing movie, than a thriller....the door opened, the door was closed, the door opened the door closed. And then he comes walking in a few minutes later.. oh my goodness give us at least some kind of ghost story or him trying to make her crazy....he was definitely delusionally unrealistic and quite disturbed. I was at least hoping something was going to come of something. And nothing ever came of nothing ..lol.. and then rolled the credits .. 😂😂..
Filme com realidade bem marcante. Gostei.
For years The Tailor of Panama was my example of worst waste of time until watching The Nest. I now have a new contender for biggest waste of time. The Nest is boring, slow, and what is the point? Is Judd Law wonderful to look at and great actor to watch, yes. Is Carrie Coon beautiful and ethereal, yes. Is there tension, yes. Is there drama, a bit but it feels contained and snuffed out. The story is based on an hour or more of smoldering embers that finally in the last 15- 20 minutes promise to ignite into a flame when it just ends as it began with the same smoldering embers. You will be better off watching just about any other film as long as it is not Tailor of Panama.
I will pray to any higher power able to give me the time back I wasted on this movie, I tried to give to credit... Saying it's going to build up to something, plz God build up to something. But no. Woe is me for believing in such a fallacy, for it must of been destined for me to be subjected to such empty promises. I bet you to watch something else, I would rather watch The Room 5 times back to back then have watched this movie
This movie is fucking trash, do not waist your time, no character depth, no plot what so ever, so “tWiStEd” turning point or ending. I don’t even write reviews, this movies enraged me so much it compelled me to do so. Fuck this film.
As a horse rider myself i enjoyed the horse riding scenes in this film. Sundance can never let down. I loved the suspense in the film it has me on the edge of my seat, it absolutely is a must-see!
This movie is well acted by all participants. The story is a little difficult to believe with a man with a rough upbringing splurges unrealistically on a mansion for his family plus a car and a horse and a new stable for his wife and getting his two children into prestigious schools, all before moving his family of four to England. He does this without any income flow from his new, (old) job. The movie starts well, establishing a happy family but slowly bogs down in a series of calamities and disfunction. Then, just when things get interesting, It ends, leaving you unfulfilled.
This movie is such a waste of time. The only positive thing I gained from the movie is to use your money wisely and to not be a lying narcissist. The slow build up drove me crazy because I am impatient, so many unnecessary scenes. By the end of the moving I was expecting there to be some big resolution. Sadly NOO there was nothing the movie just ended. No matter how good someones acting is it never makes up for such an awful movie. I hate wasting my time on terrible movies.
