The Offering Reviews
On what day did g*d make The Offering , and couldn't he have rested on that day too
This is beautifully edited and the goat character is very well designed. It also looks nice. That is about all the praise I can think of because this is really unengaging. The jump scares are noticeably bad, there was no suspense and they didn’t make me jump. The detail of the story is a little hard to follow at times but overall you get what’s going on. The ending though, woof that made no sense to me and annoyed me. I cannot recommend this film.
It's good, has a nice backstory and it's thrilling at times. The movie had quite a bit of potential, but I feel like it's just too similar to other movies with the same concept. I definitely felt like I watched a worse version of The Autopsy of Jane Doe. I have never watched any movies based on a Jewish folklore and it was honestly a decent movie to introduce me to that.
The Jewish traditions are a good backdrop for this film, meaning you slide between orthodox culture and dangerous folk tale, not always quite knowing where you are. Solid acting and a decent story.
There's no denying it's entertaining, with masterful visuals, and a great story, but where its artistry and head spinning writing let it down are the moments of complexity without depth of explanation. I love the history behind the demon, and that this is Jewish story as much as it is a possession-horror
Interesting use of Jewish folklore and culture to tell a story of demon possession and a deal with an evil entity. Despite a decent cast and good atmosphere and setting, the film doesn’t escape many of the cliches of demon possession stories that are tired at this point. The monster is typical CGI fare and we see too much of it for it to be terrifying. At least there’s no cloying happy ending.
The Offering strikes the perfect balance between a compelling story and spine-tingling scares. Rooted in Jewish folklore, it brings something fresh to horror while delivering all the tension and eerie vibes you want from the genre. The family drama feels real, adding emotional weight to the supernatural terror. The pacing is just right, with a natural flow that keeps you hooked without rushing the chills. The demon Abyzou is creepy and unique, and the mix of cultural detail and atmospheric dread makes the whole experience unforgettable. If you're into horror with depth and scares, The Offering is a must-watch!
This movie started out so promising, and then just became dry and started falling short on every part. Also… elevator scene wise? Can we stop making women look like idiots just to draw out a scene? It’s a dated practice, and annoying. She knew immediately to close the gate on the way down, she isn’t going to forget for that long on the way back up, even with panic setting in… maybe for a brief second, but not for that long. Anyways… personally didn’t like this. Found it to be a waste of time, and had a hard time sitting through the entirety of the film. Ending was on par with the rest of the film. Realized I was getting up and pausing every 20 minutes and had to force myself to finish it (goal is to finish all Hulu horror movies by the end of 2024). Hard pass.
This movie reminded me a lot of The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Not bad, but i really felt like I was watching some movie twice.
Ok acting with just a couple of jump scares and draped in some Jewish tradition or folklore that was somewhat beyond me. As someone who is usually all for a horror involving the supernatural I felt that the movie got in its own way due to the plot. Ghosts/demons, a morgue, it's usually enough but not this time.
It was a waste of my time. I didn't like the endings and the carather weren't really developed. Skip it.
You won't regret watching it. Top movies from this year
A so-so directed, useless film. And... the "spin"? There are far better horror movies using jewish imagery
A new cultural approach to horror, Super Refreshing!
What a way to waste of time. The acting was mediocre at best, the CGI was odd, the characters are all completely unlikable especially the lead, and the biggest crime of all is that they use Jewish mysticism as a crutch, but then barely touch on its rich and interesting lore.
The CGI the bad acting the over used of jump scares and plot twist after plot twist. BORING what a waste of potential 😞😕
Una película de terror que mantendrá al espectador pegado a la butaca.
Buena película, entretenida 👍
Me encanta tanto está película!!!
Siempre estas en suspenso
