The One I Love Reviews
A pretentious piece of BS, very well received by the professionals. And one more thing: I don’t watch movies to see naked women, but we are in the 21st century and showing adults having sex with the woman wearing a bra it’s beyond ridiculous. The code was much more sincere.
Charlie McDowell seems to only score. I’m a fan. This movie was a trip. To me a totally novel idea. Very fun.
This movie is a fun watch. It's MUCH better if you see this in the same Universe as Ted Danson's character inn the later ,The Good Place. This is his first training as architect, and the alternative versions are condemned souls wanting to leave hell
The leads are worth watching, the premise is intriguing and it does provide a few laughs along the way.
It’s quite an interesting analyzation of love and marriage. Both leads work very well together finding their faults and successes being alone or with each other. It’s a very zany story with plenty of twists but it should’ve reached higher in terms of its storytelling. There are stronger stories out there like this one.
When their therapist tells them their relationship is out of tune, a married couple takes his advice to stay at a secluded estate for a weekend Weird things begin occurring. Elisabeth Moss can do no wrong! And I'm so happy such a talented actress loves doing genre films. I highly recommend Shining Girls. As expected not only does she excel at overt expressions but I love her subtle shifts with her facial features and posture. Duplass holds his own as well. An exploration of idealizing marriage.
If you are looking for the story to make sense or end well, then stop now. Both actors are intriguing and make the most of a difficult story. It’s both insightful & scary. Sometimes it’s hard to face the truth. The ending couldn’t work in real life as at least two of the characters would have family & friends who would guess that something was amiss.
What did I just watch? Elizabeth Moss character infuriated me from the get go and Mark Duplass character was such a terrible person. Who are the dopplegangers? Where did they come from? And what was with the therapist, did he try to con them?
I've seen 3 movies with this same premise. A couple is cloned, and the spouses end up preferring the clone. (These weren't literal clones, but same idea) Foe. Recreator, And this one-- The One I Love. This one was decent. The acting and the dialogue was fine. What threw me off was just not liking either partner. I didn't feel sorry for either one. They didn't belong together. They should have separated long ago. They were both dishonest and deceptive with each other. They didn't even have kids. What was their excuse for torturing each other by staying? I suppose that's the point. People don't have the courage to move on, but a clone gives them that exit. Ok, fine.
[note to self] Revolting couples therapy guff. Waste no more time even thinking about it.
An intriguing mirror reality concept as well as a shrewd treatise on how we view our partners, The One I Love engages thanks to nuanced dual performances from Mark Duplass and Elisabeth Moss.
Great chemistry between Moss and Duplass in this fun and quirktly tale which steers clear of the schmaltz. Lots of of fun and a mindbending ride.
A strange and very welcome buzz gets injected into the viewer and then the film becomes an unpredictable and amusing balancing act of being a comedy and being a thriller.

If you're up for a thought-provoking, genre-blending experience, this movie is a must-watch.
Wow!! Give this film some time to get going and you will not regret it! A slow start but you slowly get into it and this film is brilliant.
Quite a good film. A very unique idea! 3.5 out of 5 😊
I watched it till the end because I wanted to know what would happen next but I wouldn't recommend anyone to watch this movie. The whole movie i feel disgust towards the protagonists, the husband for what he did in the past and the wife for how she's acting right now. It does not get better, not organically anyways. It's a well written low budget movie but it's really just there to annoy you and i find myself not enjoying it.
Intriguing movie and concept, orginal ideas
One of my favorite indie films of the last 10 years! Its trippy like the Twilight Zone and twist will haunt your dreams.
A fun concept and well-executed, though I have a few quibbles. I had trouble believing Moss's character's reaction to the whole situation (too accepting) and the ending was easy to see ahead of time. Still fun and worth a watch.
