The Oranges Reviews
I'm sorry but this is just another midlife crisis middle-aged man having it off with a girl that was almost like a daughter to him before he started to sleep with her. And the girl is unlikeable. This reminds me of the W. Allen films where he keeps trying to tell us it's fine to sleep with his step daughter.
It had so much potential to be better, but alas it felt like someone just wanted the plot idea with no substance. Taboo relationship hated by everyone!! Yet the movie gives no reason for people to not see these relationships as having potential to be something more, or real, despite it not being cultivated in an appropriate way. They could have easily shown a development of mutual and platonic understanding, humor, friendship- before realizing it could be more- but it didn't. And the ending didn't make sense. Nina, while running away from everything ever, you could see character development happening and some sort of effort, then to just leave the ending as is was wild to me. I think it's a good watch, but god it could have been so much better.
very real and brutal
In this film, the director told us how such a small dispute between neighboring families can turn out to be a big problem. It turned out to be a real-life movie
In my opinion, I felt that the movie was very good, behind all this, the filmmaker was able to come up with the right festive details to congratulate the members of the behind-the-scenes team.
Disgusting, shameless, unwatchable, cringe and bigoted ageist trash!
I thought it was funny, it was a chaos movie, it has several valid life points. How people are unreasonable and want instant everything, then are surprised and even have the audacity to be disappointed when the instant they wanted doesn't work out. h How we make things unnecessarily complicated and last, but not least how everything works out every time as is should. There is no one to blame or congratulations, but ourselves. Lived this movie 😍
I never quite understood the purpose of this film. It's the story of two families who have grown up together - but are essentially dead inside. So to feel something, they start doing selfish things to please themselves. Most of which hurts the others in this extended family. Personally, I found the story to be lackluster and unengaging. Despite the strong cast, I didn't care for any of the characters. Yeah, they were quirky - but they lacked soul. They were suburban zombies who had no purpose, no goals, no dreams... nothing that made me want to follow them or root for them. To make matters worse, during times when the emotions should run high, the soundtrack made most of the noise. Overall - a terrible featue debut from a director using a nihilistic script. In the end, in a movie world where nothing matters - then nothing is at stake. Hard to care what happens there.
Tiene partes entretenidas y un gran actor... Hugh Laurie!
The oranges has its moments but in the end it’s an unsatisfying comedy. The cast and performances are decent but the movie never finds the comedic note it’s looking for. This movie really could’ve been funny but the script is flat with very few jokes. It feels like a lesser version of American beauty.
Entertaining but ultimately somewhat flat comedy about a middle aged guy dating his best friend's daughter. There are some funny moments, especially when the film dares to be a little naughty, which isn't too often. It doesn't help that the ending has to follow the conventions of Hollywood comedies and that big age differences can never work out. A wasted opportunity to be somewhat different. The cast works, though.
A sociopath comes back to reek havoc on a family by preying on a married man that can't control his urges. Backed with a musical soundtrack that makes you feel it's ok to cheat as long as it makes you happy and forgot everyone else. Two thumbs way up your vitures.
a sharp black comedy that doesnt really reach as many poignant moments as youd expect but does offer something
I liked it better than the critics did. Oliver Platt, Alison Janney- outstanding in whatever they do. Decent movie. Not great, but decent.
The cast is what enticed me to watch this, even with a poor trailer. Unfortunately the movie is even worse than the trailer. The comedy attempts are terrible, and the drama is never very good or compelling. Just a waste of a good cast.
Okay, we watched this today and were entertained. It's not a great movie, but it moves along with a few laughs, some uncomfortable. Good to see Hugh Laurie is still working. Probably won't change your life, but it was entertaining!
Another stupid romance movie. Disgusting movie and why is it called oranges. An old man kissing a teenager, pretty disgusting. Terrible
The story in interesting but not believeable? The only girls I've ever seen hooking with mediocre older men have had bad fathers...plain and simple. Girls with much older men [the exception is if the man is incredibly attractive, successful, rich and/or powerful] always 100% have bad dads. The dad in this movie is great. The older man is balding, homely, slightly interesting...but assuming he's none of the parentheses...no way! The End
