The Paper Tigers Reviews
Thoroughly entertaining action comedy. The characters are believeable and the plot holds my interest. Even a happy ending!
Don't get suckered in like I was. I understand that it's a low budget movie. However, the story structure is a mess with plot details not making sense and leading nowhere.
When their sifu is murdered, his former students, now middle aged, endeavor to avenge him. A fun throwback to a classic formula with three solid leads and a hilarious rival. I loved how one character mentioned something and it came into play later. And an obvious but funny easter egg with Yuji Okumoto, who co-produced.
40/100 - I love Kung Fu movies and comedies, unfortunately not this one. Really bad, writing is all over the place. Fails to blend new and old themes. Hard to watch.
Not quite as funny as I hoped it still managed to have some great ideas and some surprisingly well choreographed fight scenes.
Not bad but not great
An unknown but unexpectedly great film. It's easy to tell where the budget had to be cut on special effects and actors, but the story, the lessons, and the ambiance the cast brings to the table is all worth the watch.
This is a good, funny, family film. Not great, but good. Worth a watch. No true violence. Gong Fu fights lead to some blood, but everybody sits down and chats after. LOL Pacing is a wee bit slow. Story is mostly about a recently divorced dad learning to be a better father.
Easy watch but leaves the viewer with little to think about. Lacking development in the plot left me wanting to do something else. Good for casual viewing but would not recommend it for movie night.
What makes The Paper Tigers good isn't the culturally diverse cast and resistance to "white washing", but that it actually tells a coherent story with exciting action and genuine laughs. The fight scenes were diverse, entertaining, and relatively unpredictable. The characters were likeable, if not all fully realized. The jokes were funny. Stop reading and go watch it.
This movie was most enjoyable. A lot of heart between the main characters and the fight scenes were very good.
Try it even if it isn't your usual movie subject choice. The humor is good enough to make it worth watching.
Cliché, no decent character development, predictable. Probably okay as a kids' movie without expectations to fulfil. Sorry, but no.
This film is definitely a hidden gem! As a Seattleite, it was a very pleasant surprise to see all the emerald city locations appear in the film. The film itself is very funny in its own way and it is always good to see a film that depicts the Asian culture so well.
The paper tigers( maybe it's the Three Tigers in a different region) is a fresh take on Martial Arts comedy movies. A dark and serious tone, to further get to stakes and a unique, but serious ending. A gathering of childhood friends and memories shared to get over past difference for a common Cause.
Paper Tigers (Netflix or Rental) is a martial arts comedy about 3 aging former students reuniting to deal with the death of their sifu. The comedy is mild and the fights work pretty well. Subplot about one character's child is likely unneeded and drags down the pace and tone of the film. 3 stars out of 5.
This film is punching far above it's weight! Captivating storytelling, brilliant fight choreography. All in all a great film!
Not a bad movie enjoyable, a little predictable , reasonably well acted but the comedy is a little cheesy. Just needed a spark to make it a good movie.
Are you people for real this acting is so bad it’s unwatchable.
