The Pope's Exorcist Reviews
NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!
Amazing movie. Haven't had such a captivating experience with a movie watched on a streaming service for a very long time. Of course, the leading role being played by the one and only Russel Crowe helped a lot. All in all, I would recommend this movie - it was engaging, had great cinematography, great acting and a storyline that made you want to do your own research, to learn more - it made you curious. Great movie - would have also loved a cinema experience, since the sound effects and visuals were impressive.
What was with the comical London accent from the boy? It really ruins the mood and I couldn't take it seriously. There are some interesting ideas and intense moments but also sometimes it's a little boring. It's not very original, all these exorcism films are very similar and struggle to come close to The Exorcist (1973). It's definitely one of the better exorcist films though. It's not scary but it's exciting. The acting is fine and it's nice to look at. Overall it's fairly enjoyable and entertaining although not especially memorable.
Good movie - but some scenes are a bit cheesy, as the scenes of the mother flying across the room and the demon being British gave me the shivers and not in a good way. But the actors and the sound effects and the lighting throughout the film along with the plot twist of the demon being in the bottom of the church was interesting.
Poor Russell Crowe, forced to take bit parts in yet another subpar knockoff of (the real) Exorcist just to survive both cinematically and, above all, financially.
Absolutely tosh!! An hour and a half of my life I'll never get back. Mr Crowe, where's your self respect gone?
What a load of rubbish. It looks like a cheap remake of the exorcist with literally zero talent other than Russell Crowe. Waste of 1hr and 43 minutes. DO NOT RECOMMEND
This was a corny, old fashioned gore laden "shocker" crammed with every exorcism cliche in the book. However, it was a reasonably enjoyable way to pass a couple of hours and Russell Crowe was really good as the world weary but wryly humourous exorcist and his performance elevated the movie considerably. The plot moved along at a cracking pace and although it was extremely silly most of the time, it was also pretty entertaining.
Loved it! Didn’t know what to expect but Rusty was fantastic and the film was one of those unexpected treats!
Really captivating film, keeps you on the edge of your seat. The storyline and plot is thrilling despite what critics say. really good movie!
Enjoyable if you like this sort not so scary horror stuff. Crowe is good
I really liked the film, not as scary but almost documentary style to start. I liked the humour and the main character. Not top but a good film
This showed as top 3 on Netflix so I thought it must be good! Unfortunately I must have been one of the unfortunates that thought this and had to suffer for almost 2hrs. I absolutely love Russel Crowe but I am surprised he subjected his talent to this poor film. It’s the same as any other exorcist movie but just worse. Predictable and not shocking at all. I think I rolled my eyes about 5 times knowing what was to come. The movie plot was rushed, I felt no emotional connection to the characters and that was such a downfall. Can’t recommend this movie.
Who can't get into a comical priest played by Russell Crowe? I loved everything about this movie.
I quite enjoyed the movie. It was a little bit corny but bearable. I think that Russell Crowe gave a fantastic performance.
I’ve been generous with the stars and that’s simply because of Russell Crowe’s performance and the effects. Otherwise it really is underwhelming. Is Crowe hard up? Why else would he do such a lame type of film genre? Sorry Russ…
This was one of the corniest, most awful movies I've ever seen in my life. The power drill sound effect at the end was the nail in the coffin. It was so absolutely terrible it made me log in to this account (that I haven't touched in years.) to write this review. This is an hour and forty-five minutes of my life I will never get back, and will be sorely missed.
It's ok, watch it. It is not very exiting, nor terrifying, but it is entertaining enough. Also guuuuugell "Gabriele Amorth" to get some insight.
Russell Crowe sold his soul for a bag of money. Otherwise why else would he act in such a piece of tripe. A great big bore.
