As Professor Roth mentioned in lecture, "The Room" is famous for being one of those so-bad-it’s-good movies. But for me, someone who doesn’t totally get that whole vibe, the film wasn’t exactly a great experience. Yeah, there were a few moments that were unintentionally funny, but overall, it felt like a drag. I get why it’s a cult classic—the bizarre writing and weird acting can be pretty entertaining at times. But even those odd moments didn’t make up for how slow and poorly paced the film was. Seriously, the pacing is awful. Scenes go on way too long, and the repetition just makes it hard to stay engaged. There were a lot of pointless conversations and repetitive moments, like the awkward rooftop arguments that just kept dragging. John, who’s supposed to be the main character, was awkward in a way that wasn’t always funny. The dialogue is hilariously bad, which is definitely the best part of the movie, but even that couldn’t save it for me. I finally figured out where all those "Hi, Mark!" memes came from—those awkward conversations are funny because they’re so random, but they didn’t hold my attention enough to keep me hooked for the whole movie. While "The Room" might work as a joke in a theater setting, like Professor Roth said, it’s mostly just a boring watch on its own. The occasional laughs weren’t enough to make up for the rest. Overall, I thought the movie was just kinda mid—good concept, but the acting and awkward dialogue didn’t always land. Some of the humor was funny, so at least it wasn’t a total bore.

I could see why this film is named the worst best movie ever. I was not sure what I was getting myself into, so when I watched the movie I was confused on why the storytelling was off and the acting was bad. The movie contains so many plots that are left unfinished. Throughout the movie there are scenes you feel that could have been left out and not needed at all, or dialogue that did not match certain scenes. I feel that the only scenes they made that were very intense and detailed were the love making scenes and even then those scenes had no significance to the plots. Each section of the movie had its own plots that were never resolved. For example, Danny buying drugs, or bringing Peter the therapist friend for a scene and then never seeing him again throughout the film, or the mother announcing she has breast cancer. The movie was definitely all over the place. I think what made the movie worse was the acting, especially from Tommy Wiseau. I think what made it bad was how monotone his voice sounded or how he gave no facial expressions. Something about his voice did not match the film at all. It almost felt as if the film was rushed and the actors came up with their own dialogues on the spot. In a way I could see how this film has become big in the cult film industry as it really shows the do’s and don'ts in films.

As Professor Roth said during lecture, "The Room" is known for its reputation as one of the so-bad-it's-good film, yet for someone who cannot really resonate with that philosophy, the film was not a great experience. While it has moments that are amusing and unintentionally funny, it is an overall drag to get through. I understood where the cult aspect of it comes from, the humor from the bizarre writing and acting were truly entertaining at times. But even those did not really cancel out how boring and poorly paced the film is. As mentioned, the pacing is just down right horrendous. Scenes drag on way longer than they should, and the repetition makes it hard to stay engaged. There were way too many pointless conversations and redundant moments, like the awkward rooftop arguments. Even the supposed interesting drama plotline did not make it anymore enjoyable to sit through. The acting was another mixed point. It was funny at times, but the constant odd line delivery and lack of emotion became boring quickly. John is supposed to be like the center of the story, but his awkward performance did not feel like it belonged there even though it was humorous occasionally. The dialogue is hilariously bad at times, which is easily the best part of the film, but it was still simply not enough to make up for the rest. I finally found where the "Hi, Mark!" memes weree from all along. The conversations are funny because they are so awkward and even ridiculous, but they did not capture my intention enough to keep my interest for the entirety of the film. While "The Room" might work as a joke in a cinema settings like Professor Roth said, as a standalone film, it is mostly a boring experience. The occasional laughs did not outweigh the tediousness.

I felt that this movie was mid. It had a good storyline and the concept was good, I just feel like the acting in some scenes were a bit awkward because of its dialogue. I also thought that some of the humor in this film was funny so it wasn't a boring watch

This movie is, to put it simply, trash. However, it's the kind of trash that the weird drug-addicted kids in high school would dare each other to lick. Extremely fun to watch.

Good God this is hard to get through sober!

Yes, it absolutely sucks. It's earned it's title of one of the worst films ever made, and is bizarre in ways that other movies cannot match. But in many ways, we should praise the insanity of it and the legacy it has left us with; the very definition of being so bad, it's good.

After hearing that this film was so popular that it has traditions when it comes to watching in theater, I definitely thought it would be a one of a kind film. To a certain extent it was, It has to be one of the only movies that is so bad in all aspects that people still find some way to enjoy it. In my case I don’t personally understand it. Maybe it’s one of those things you had to be there when it first came out to understand but i'm not sure. The script is bad, the acting is worse, the plot is all over the place and to top it all off, it’s terribly shot. I'm unsure what the wanted outcome was but it was a hard watch. I was so incredibly lost the entire time, when I started getting confused I gave the film the benefit of the doubt that some questions would be answered later. But I just kept having question after question and by the end I was confused and unsatisfied. The main actor, Tommy Wiseau, cannot act to save his life. Not even an amazing actor can save a train wreck of a script, but I'm convinced this guy couldn’t even do the bare minimum with the best script ever written. I am genuinely confused how this guy is a famous actor? Wouldn’t recommend it, I understand people view it as a “it’s so good it’s bad” kind of film but it’s somehow so bad I couldn’t even laugh at how bad it was and just wanted it to end. And for the love of god why are people throwing spoons at the screen?

Now I know I am not the only when saying this about the film, since this movie came out since 2003, but the movie was so bad, it was so good at the same time, since people just loved how awfully bad it was, that somehow it gained so much more attention and festivals to play it for fans of the movie to just do whatever during the showings of the room. The writer and director of the movie made by Tommy Wiseau himself, is quite the remarkable work of him at least trying and attempting something not everyone can do. In the state of the film not being successful itself, I feel like Tommy has in a way that shined more light on him, than anything that he has done at the time when that movie went out in theaters. Of course, everything from the writing that I felt like was all over the place, despite the actions of what the characters do on the levels that were understandable , but not as much as following the story so much. Either way, I also do understand why the film still gets the attention and love from so many people all over the world. As harsh as some critics are and reviews for this film, I’m glad I got to see it once in my life, because that’s how I feel for a lot of things that I view or watch. It’s one of those, “You have to watch it only once” movies at LEAST in your life, because it's always that one thing you hear about, but never really dig deep into since you either don’t care about it too much, or simply forgotten about it, either. In the end of it, despite the messy dialogue and the odd plot from the story, I’ve come to a conclusion on how bizarre and interesting to see a movie like this to be shown from hundreds, or even thousands of people that still watch this movie from festivals bringing it back in certain places to go and re watch the film again with a loved one or with friends even, that says a lot about how it really the room was apart of the cinema world , and the impact it’s made strangely at the same time.

Watching it is like stepping into a cinematic train wreck—you can’t look away, even though it’s a mess from start to finish. One of the most confusing things about the film is its handling of time. The movie often shifts between day and night without any logical explanation, making it almost impossible to keep track of when things are supposed to be happening. One minute it’s bright and sunny, and the next, it’s dark as night, with no clear reason for these changes. It’s as if the film doesn’t bother with any consistency, which only adds to the overall feeling of chaos. Then there’s the acting. Tommy Wiseau. His line delivery is so awkward and out-of-touch that taking any of his scenes seriously is hard. The rest of the cast isn’t much better, delivering their lines in a stilted and unnatural way. It’s clear that the actors are struggling with the terrible dialogue and uneven script, which makes every scene cringe. I also don't understand whats up with all the sex scenes and why are they trying to make it romantic. I also don't know why the football tossing in almost ever guy hang out. This film is just so bad I dont understand how it can have fans who willingly pay to watch this film. I went to watch a live screening of the film and I dont understand why the fans kept throwing spoons at the screen, is this suppose to signify anything ? I was utterly lost to be quite honest and I was tempted many times to leave the theater that's how bad it was. I would have never watched this film unless my film class didn't make it part of the syllabus.
