The Seed Reviews

Jan 9, 2025

Absolute trash of the lowest order. An hour or so of sheer boredom, apart from 3 young women walking about in bikinis I suppose, followed by about 20 mins of very mild creature 'gore'.

To avoid absolutely!!! Terrible story and acting. A waste of time.

A wacky, wild ride filled with silly characters, bizarre plot twists, and a disgustingly endearing alien visitor. It's absurd and entertaining.

Original, sobre todas las cosas, y (bastante) bizarra en general. No es un tanque que vale millones ni una película que vaya a quedar nominada al Oscar pero tampoco puedo decir que es mala, sencillamente cumple. Para verla alguna vez y no mucho mas.

One small seed can grow into gigantic terror A meteor shower is taking place and a group of girls venture out to a house in the desert They want to party and get a clear view of the night sky But they get more than they bargained for when the meteor passes by and lands on Earth; not only do they find it but a monstrous alien life form has taken hold of them Slowly it begins to gestate inside these women one by one birthing into something inhuman This definitely isn't for epileptics mind you Director Sam Walker doesn't shy away from the grotesque body horror and gore Kinda matches the lines of 'Slither' The storytelling is kind of uneven given it's about social media influencers, trying to get the most out of one single setting, and a bunch of people who come off self-centered and unlikable Still for horror fans it gets as freaky as they come A grotesque feature debut is as much a satire of online narcissism and viral toxicity as an alien invasion flick, even if it doesn't gel together 100% Diving deeper into its premise could've benefited more as a whole but for a quick dispensable time waster it does its job fine

Overall, those who enjoy horror films like The Thing will get a brainless kick out of this release.  Performances are pleasing as the three leads carry this film to the end.  But sadly, the main three characters are generally unlikeable thanks to childish dialogue and us witnessing their many unwise choices throughout the film.  For the most part, the film is predictable and takes its sweet time to get to the core plot,  thanks to several subplots that are uninteresting and dull to watch.  Thanks to elements such as the cast, practical effects, etc., the potential is here.  The Seed isn't something out of this world, but more of a meteor that burns fast and crashes hard.

Poorly written and poorly acted. Terrible special effects. The combination of horror, comedy and sci-fi simply doesn't work at any level. "The Seed" should be a case study of all the mistakes that need to be avoided in any horror movie.

Think this moves way too slow for what it needs to do, nothing really 'horror' or interesting happens till the last 20 minutes or so.

What a shame the acting was horrible because it had The Shunting level of gore and weirdness. The story concept was cool! I liked the entire idea... But the crap dialogue that the actors were given and the middle-school-play line delivery was HaRD to watch. I didn't have high hopes going in, thankfully, but that low-bar hope wasn't even met. Liked the ending, genuinely thought it was good but the acting and dialogue was just too crappy to get passed. Worth a mindless watch if there is absolutely nothing else.

This only gets the extra half star because of the ending and the first two stars because you get what you bargained for, but as far as writing and a decent story it fell very short, But at least Shudder keeps throwing out new movies regularly, worth a little waste of time here and there because some are excellent
