The Silencing Reviews

Mar 12, 2025

Acting was substandard; the considerable injuries the two main characters sustained appeared to vanish in the following scenes; and the plot was dopey. Wallis was stale and boring, much like her role in Peaky Blinders. Zahn McClarnon was underutilized. Was hoping for quite a bit more out of this movie.

Sayang oras. Napakabagal ng kwento. Napakarami ding butas. Un killer parang lalabas lang sa ending tapos the end na.

I know there's something special about a movie when it has an extremely low critic rating and an extremely high audience rating. It's almost like these so-called critics don't have a clue.

A very good movie, a lot of action, suspense, plot twists, keep you entertained all the time.

A genuine thriller, but lots of plot holes and loose threads. Could have used a bit more storytelling to back up the exciting pacing and decent performances.

Trust the Tomatometer- this one had potential, the director dipped the ball.

My guess is the director refused to participate at some sex party or something and Hollywood is punishing him with bad reviews.

This is a very solid and engaging small, independent crime drama. The strength of the move is in the performance. In particular, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is a very gripping as a loner whose life is broken any the disappearance of his daughter. How his daughter's disappearance ties into other disappearances of young women in the area is the question of the film. The movie is well Directed. The cinematography is good. The landscape makes for a great setting for this dark and well paced drama. The young woman who plays the Sheriff is very compelling. All the supporting cast are very good actors, despite being relative unknowns.

Lack of logic. The story dosent justify the serial killing.

Fairly suspenseful movie. I would recommend this movie.

Good suspense thriller to watch unfold as it takes an unconventional path to telling the story it’s telling.

I honestly stopped watching after the Sheriff shot the good guy and told her brother to run. Ridiculous plot.

Awful. Non-realistic. Underdeveloped.

Disappointing. Poorly written, even more poorly directed. A complete waste of time.

Solid Movie for 90 minutes - it will keep you entertain. If you can't stop scrolling -this will do the trick.

Very predictable.. Just a lot of ominous music mixed with some tribal stuff. If you have seen other movies of the genre like Silence of the Lambs then this movie is a bit underwhelming.. with a very predictable plot :)

A movie with a strong premise, a decent enough cast and production for it to be entertaining if it weren't for the massive plot holes and unexplainable writing decisions. It could have been a very decent movie. It starts off solid, we get to know a bit about the main characters, which isn't all to bad. But soon you'll notice how pretty much every scene has a major flaw in it. Be it a totally out of character decision, a totally unbelievable decision or just outright impossible. Got shot with an arrow to the shoulder? A few sips of liquor and the next day you will be walking for miles with a person on your back and fight off an equally sized human like it's nothing. Until you get shot (the same day mind you) and have to undergo an improvised surgery (because of another major flaw in the story) which will definitely harm your ability to be active. Or... you will just go back to running, fighting and carrying another person again just a day later... Got your foot stuck in a bear trap? Just some bandages will do the job. Sure, you will be limping a little bit, but driving a car or walking for miles won't be a problem. Surely those crushed bones won't affect you at all... I don't mind to bend the rules of realism a bit for storyline purposes, but to completely ignore all consequences of major physical damage is a bridge too far. It's like the writers just didn't remember what had happened in the previous scene. We get information about characters which won't be followed up anywhere later in the movie. If it's for character building purposes, I don't mind. But if you are going to put emphasis on a particular person and what goes on in their life, I'm expecting to learn more about it later in the movie. The twist in the end was a welcome one. But that feeling sure died down quickly, after learning pretty much nothing about the killer('s motive) and what has happened to their victims. The thing which bothered me the most is the killer saying they only chose victims who no one would miss, while having a whole wall in their house filled with missing people posters. It made no sense. The whole movie is about a father searching for his missing daughter... And why would the killer kill innocent girls instead of the people they actually hate? So many questions left unanswered. But if the plot tells me anything, I don't even want to know the answers to my questions.

Micah Ranum Might wanna try his hands at something else than film writing, because this film should never have been shot.
