The Way Back Reviews
If you want to see western actors impersonating prisoners in Siberia, this is the movie for you. Otherwise, a complete waste of excellent thespians like Farrell, Harris and Ronan.
Very heartbreaking, but good. It has a few slow moments though.
Well worth watching.. tremendous effort. These are the movies one occasionally finds, sifting through the chaff.
Too boring. Great views though.
the raw art of the "never give up"
Not impressive. Actors are visually too fat for the entire film. Narative is dull and uninspiring. Very few moments are worthy of the time. Once is enough.
Some good preforamnces but deeply depressing.
The scenery held my attention, also the prison scenes in Siberia seemed realistic. It was gritty, which I like. But there was an anachronism when they arrive to Mongolia and discover the country was communist. Mongolia had been communist in real life since 1921, and the movie takes place after WWII, so the characters would have known already that Mongolia is communist and not been surprised.
Have not seen any stronger movie in a while. Wondering, how comes I have never came across this film before. The fact, that my very grandfather was sent to GULAG on article 58, magnifies and amplifies this flick to me personally. Valka character is played so good, no one could do it any better. The old thieves' song performed by Collin Farrell brings so much reality into the picture, I can only break in tears lol That was a joke, but that is what the original song was meant to make one do. The only thing that I disliked is that Valka is a fan of USSR and Stalin. More likely he was not. There is a fact that GULAG prisoners were getting the tattoos of Lenin and Stalin portraits on either their backs or chests just for a simple reason as they hoped that the guards would not shoot at the "sacred" images in case the image holders would try to escape the camp. Other that that - the movie is brilliant. Ready to rewatch!
This certainly doesn't stack up to Peter Weir's well-known achievements like Master & Commander and Gallipoli yet Ed Harris and the incredible scenery make this man vs earth picture very watchable.
Good movie, if a tad long. Worth watching.
Whilst there's no real depth of emotion to it, this is an epic telling of an incredible trek, nonetheless, with superb cinematic presence and a core of really good performances. Can't help but feel this might have been better without the well-known actors???, as a foreign language film
Its a great movie that does a great job of telling an amazing journey and it should'nt be downrated bc it didn't meet some ridiculous expectations.
Epic survival tale! This was a long movie but I was unaware of the length because I was so thoroughly engrossed. The scenery and the photography were simply spell binding but more than that, this was a story about the indomitable spirit of people faced with desperate odds told with sensitivity and at times, humour. Fantastic!
Produced by National Geographic, this is a true ‘guy movie' about WWII prisoners who escape from a Russian gulag during the winter and journey across vast terrains as they try to reach freedom. Not classified as a foreign language film but with alot of subtitles that do not diminish things very much and with an over two hour runtime it does have some lulls but overall it keeps attention fairly well. Solid and intriguing tale of man versus wild.
A mostly great cast on a large scope, this movie is more formulaic and easier to watch than you'd think given the subject matter. Watch it if its on 온라인카지노추천.
This was a good movie good acting. Seems they captured the true torture of surviving in extreme climates. In addition, it shows an perspective from the Russian suffering during WW2. Only issue is that the movie dragged on a bit long.
