Brilliant and bizarre. An excellent investigative documentary, highly recommend.

A New Zealand journalist who specializes in stories of the unusual gets more than he bargained when he uncovers a mysterious tickling competition. This begins as an interesting mockumentary until...what? This isn't a mockumentary but is actually based on real events? Seriously? Yep, this is real. The material in this film is real. Real persons interviewed. Real journalist. I hate to spoil anything but this is one of the strangest true stories I've ever heard. You will be shaking your head at the absurdity of it all. This isn't me being sarcastic, either. Highly recommended.

A very well done documentary about a bit of harmless fun? Yes and no. It is very well done but the documentary is no laughing matter, it rather reveals an ugly truth about our society: If you are rich you can destroy countless lives with impunity. A true plutocracy.

Very thrilling documentary. Stumbled upon Tickled on Amazon Prime in 2020. The narrative plays out like a Macabre horror thriller or one of those true crime shows, exposing an organization behind the online competitive sport of Tickling, as doing something far more nefarious and sinister than providing their clients, participants (teams of tickle athletes as it’s presented as a sport like tag team pro wrestling or American Gladiator in a Military Torture room/BDSM playroom setting), paying audience, a titillating, fetish spectacle. It is a frightening examination of a company that went into business with the the intent of pulling off something truly evil to their unassuming investors and clients...

Was really looking forward to this. Unfortunately, it was a manipulative piece of garbage that went nowhere. When I started watching the movie, it seemed like an ad for the director's other movies. Very bad sign. Save your money. This was a waste of time. The last 15 minutes are a disgrace. There's no resolution.

Tickled began with a simple idea. Some film-makers were exploring a fun story about the world of competitive tickling after seeing a couple videos on the internet. But this documentary is only partially about people being put in restraints and tickled until they can hardly stand it. The rabbit hole that these film-makers get sucked down is surprisingly deep, and absolutely thrilling. Faced with a great deal of opposition, it feels like every scene in Tickled requires the documentary team to take a risk. There are action movies that do less to excite me than this movie did by simply approaching some men to ask a few questions. Who would have thought that there was so much to learn about such a silly topic? The documentary team does some research, and helps fill in as many of the gaps in the story as possible. I was impressed by the fact that they were able to find some people to come forward with the truth, and also that they never shied away from confronting those involved. I think it’s important to point out that all the videos that are shown in this film involve fully-clothed people (with the exception of some guys who have their shirts off.) While it might be a fetish for some, there’s nothing overtly sexual in the content we are shown. That’s what makes the entire story so fascinating, because it feels like a relatively harmless series of videos that may titillate someone, but shouldn’t scandalize all the people involved. Yet there’s a cover-up going on, and the joy of this documentary is getting to the bottom of it all. I was downright riveted by all the things we learned as this movie progressed, and I was desperate for more. In fact, I fear that’s the one area where Tickled felt a bit lacking. The pay-off at the end felt like we had a few answers but no solutions. I understand it’s not the role of documentarians to fix the world’s problems, but I felt the film left me on an unsatisfactory cliffhanger. Tickled is still an excellent story, and it delivers more than you’d expect.

Exceptional, and unsettling documentary with a fresh narrative twist. Small-scale classic doco is mostly about an obsessive, destructive and controlling man with a perverted twist on erotic entertainment, but film raises questions about online fraud, double identities, and the nature of submission, bondage, physical control and the notion of paying (financially vulnerable) people for pleasure at hourly rates. The film is occasionally funny and also, while you can't really call tickling someone (even someone who is tied up) disturbing if it's done with consent, it confirms without a doubt that the online "tickle fetish" videos are being made by a very paranoid, emotionally scarred person who, above all, seeks to harass and shame people that don't go along with his plans.

An incredible job by David Farrier and Dylan Reeve of looking into the criminal Dave D'Amato. Its a stunning investigative report that found definitive links equating Dave to Jane O'Brien and Terri Tickles; the two companies that threaten and harass young men who have previously worked with the companies. Dave D'Amato is a piece of garbage and I pray karma finds him.

Nothing about it is that shocking considering the world we live in. Amateurish in quality and boring even for a documentary. Just a waste of time. (First and only viewing - 9/14/2018)
