Very good, not what I was expecting. But that's okay. I enjoyed it, overall.

Indulgent thrill ride. Couldn't look away, except for when the body horror pushed the limits of what I could watch. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that the plot was powered by such utter fan fiction fantasy that most of the many, *many* brilliant cinematic payoffs in this film weren't really earned, but this in no way took from my enjoyment. It reminded me of a much looser Substance, even though it came out three years earlier. The payoffs I was speaking about range from very gratifying slasher, drama, and action tropes, A+ cinematography, fantastic casting, powerful dialogue/performances, and a seemingly endless supply of potent, dramatic and metaphorical turns. Soft SPOILERS: If you can enjoy the first three major scenes that feature a car crash (with child skull surgery), an ear canal murder, and then an inexplicably possessed Cadillac Eldorado impregnating our exotic dancer heroine with seatbelt-bondage hydrolic sex then you'll be well rewarded with a constant mutation of plot lines and settings that keep delivering gripping scenes until the last clip that will maybe turn all the WTFs into a thoughtful 'Huh'.

One of those films in which you’ll find yourself spending more than a few minutes averting your eyes to avoid many shockingly unpleasant onscreen experiences. But, you have to give credit to Rousselle for her startling physical transformation in a stunning, audacious performance. Plus, Lindon is a heartbreakingly sympathetic character as a man willing to do just about anything to assuage his grief over his lost son. But although it’s certainly a powerfully unforgettable experience about commitment, it’s something of a challenge to endure the repugnant circumstances of Ducournau’s vision. Check it out but, only if you have a strong stomach!

I don’t understand why this movie is rated so high. It was weird in several ways, but not in one that made sense to me.

Don’t believe the tomatometer. This is a waste of your time, unless you like movies with no character development that are weird for the sake of being weird. I can get down with strangeness if it’s done thoughtfully. This ain’t it.

Takes a disturbing concept and goes all over the place. Pretentious garbage.

I have written a lot about movies on Facebook, but never rotten tomatoes. I whole heartedly believe Julia (writer/director) had a lot of time on her hands and wanted to fill it with a garbage plot, bizarre acting, psychotic overtones, misguided sexual dancing, incest, and gore. I enjoy nudity as much as the next red blooded American man, but this was not provocative, it was disgusting. Most of the movie involved gut wrenching scenes, and non-sensical scripts. The imaginative nature of the film was its sole “saving grace”, if that’s even applicable since I completely regret the time I took to watch it instead of doing the next best thing with my time, perhaps cleaning the gutters. If I try to compare it to any other film, Id fall short. Instead, Ill say this, watching Killer Clowns from Outer space, Earth Girls Are Easy, or even Show Girls, would be more entertaining than this picture.

An absolutely shocking and weird as hell movie, gory body horror at its finest that tests the viewer to their limits with a wild ending but ends up being almost too artsy to prove its point.

One of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. If you think this film is deep and watch it seriously you will be disappointed imo.

A weird, strange, and graphic French film that is original and able to maintain focus but lacks the necessary development. In the end, it makes bad sense.

So, this is my first time leaving a review because this movie is so bad I want to save other people from watching it. It was all over the place and really didn't make any sense.

From start to finish I was hooked on this beyond edgy French Sci Fi movie. I have recommended it to several people & not to others.

Un body horror très provocateur qui propose des scènes très violentes et gores. La réflexion sur la condition de la femme et la place de la famille dans notre vie donnent au film beaucoup de consistance. L'interprétation d'Agathe Rousselle dans le rôle d'Alexia est très impressionnante par le fait qu'elle n'a presque aucune lignes de dialogue mais livre une performance mémorable.
