Torremolinos 73 Reviews
How salacious! I didn't hold any expectations for 'Torremolinos 73', but I wouldn't have predicted that. I did enjoy it though, it is the type of plot that I feel like I've seen done before but it has enough differences that it stands on its own feet. I'd note it as a film totally worth watching, if you're open to seeing plenty of nudity of course - though, to be fair, it becomes less about that as it goes on. Candela Peña and Javier Cámara give two good performances, they bounced off each other well (...pardon the pun...) and held solid chemistry. Cámara is the more comedic of them, he made me chuckle a few times. The rest of the cast aren't all that (relatively) important, with Mads Mikkelsen limited to a rather small role.
Despite its subject, a quaint, funny movie. First half is very funny, but the movie loses its way from then on. Ends feeling like a bit of damp squib. Decent performances all round.
Fantastic movie , intriguing but well written screenplay, acting that never seems like an act and crisp editing
Ihan hauska ajankuva, mutta loppua kohti lässähtää ja muutenkin loppu mitätöi sen sanoman mitä tällä olis saattanu olla...
It's not as lighthearted as Rotten Tomatoes makes it out to be, but I liked it. Note: Not for the prudish.
A hilarious film about 70s porn home videos, immoral scandinavians vs the "purity" of Franco's Spain, parody on Ingmar Bergman and good laughs! Plus a very youngish Mads Mikkelsen.
"I thought Last Tango In Paris was a musical." Likable couple, Bergman parody, cool 70s look, porn-making, and that uniquely Spanish touch of sad heavy drama lurking in super goofy comedy.
Really good surprise. I found this one interesting to watch. The acting was all good. I agree that it seems like something done in the 70s instead of 2005, but that was probably by design. It was humorous in places and I liked the ending. Nothing too explicit in the sex scenes though.
Very entertaining. It seems a shallow comedy but it´s much more than that. A door to door encyclopedia salesman is offered a new job. Home-made porn. Funny, witty and touching. Highly recommendable.
considering it's based on true events, I find it very interesting how simple and religious people got involved in the porn industry :) nice movie
Probably an overlooked Spanish film, that has a lot of charm in recreating the late 60's early 70's, aoofy and funny the way an encyclopedia salesman gets involved in making homemade porn, especially in the context of Spain during the fascist dictatorship of Franco. And the film aspires to also make a bolder statement about how we view sex/marriage/relationships in a world that can objectify it with the existence of pornographic movies, along with a homage to Ingmar Bergman what was a bit cheesy though worked well in the character development.
A hilarious take on pornography and the culture of late Francoism in Spain. Equal parts farce and political satire, this film is entertaining on so many levels. The cameo by Mads Mikkelsen as a Bergman-inspired Danish porn star is classic.
There's a lot of Kieslowski shadows in this film. The screenplay is too simply amazing,it's an homage to Bergman and to film while the performances are hilarious.Truly excellent.
