I like Denzil Washington and he is pretty good here. Good story and definitely watchable. Unfortunately the action is let down by usual Hollywood fight scenes where protagonists take super human punishment and car doors stop point blank machine gun fire etc.

Its training day, and what a ride. Very watchable and repeated viewings.

A powerful movie based in part on real events. Law enforcement seems to have people who blindly support them and go along with "we risk our lives". Then another side who thinks law enforcement tends to be bully personalities with limited understanding of the law, who are predisposed to abusing the power they receive, which really is quite a bit: the ability to take our freedom on a basic level. I try not to fall into either group and look at the group on an individual basis. Sure, I've encountered petty, biased law enforcement members who want to throw their weight around and or be pawns for the affluent and connected while making sure the rest of society kiss their butts or face consequences of the badge. I have a natural tendency to not kiss ass in any situation and actually rebel against such a thing, I tend to be more skeptical of law enforcement. Sure, watching Denzel Washington portray real life, Detective Alonzo Harris could go to confirm biases people might have towards corrupt cops. Really, all professions that hold some power over society are ripe with fruit who turn to abusing power. Washington did a fantastic job and being this detective, exhibiting what one could hope law endorcement would not do. Each of the scenes was delivered with a genuine nature, which had me buying into the storyline. Hawke's character, though, can have us see there are heroes in law enforcement that are not out to pad their pockets, abuse people via the power of the badge and not being interested in petty things, but an interest in going after real crimes rather than driving around all day making sure ego stroked and getting ass kissed due to the badge. Hawke's character initially wanted a mentor and role model and rather quickly learned it was not in Washington's character. Strong fight scenes and action. A serious drama. Watch the movie. It holds up for viewing sum 25ish years after it was made.

Good movie, but Denzel Washington showed he can be a bad guy and (again, but wow) ACT!

It has a good plot, you will not know who to trust up until the end. It is just a bit slow sometimes. It has got a few cool scenes and cameos. Ethan Hawke did not offer a great performance.

All Time Classic. Phenominal performances across the board even by actors you don't really associate consistent quality with. The dialouge is excellent in this and feel real, urban, and extremely sharp. It really is a testament to how in tune the writing is. The editing and pacing are masterful through this day. It's filled with twists and turns and is truly unpredictable. Solid music although I wish it was more used and catchier. The cinematography is really good but it's sort of odd. This does a great job immersing you in urban LA underbelly. The direction is good and while it isn't anything crazy it knows to not get in the way of the great plot and excellent acting. It just lets the riveting acting shine. I will say it feels like at times this doesn't know it's a Neo Noir. It has all the hallmarks and yet the direction just doesn't "feel" like one. Besides one minor plot convience which is very easy to overlook given how masterful everything else is writing and dialouge wise, this is amazing. Everyone should give this a try once.

Love this movie the acting and track the sound track nice to see the dre snoop and Macy grey Denzel and Ethan was awesome.

It's the best movie of the whole 21st century.

I'm not normally into movies about law enforcement. Though, the twist here is really that this is not about that at all. In the end, this is about two characters with wildly different views of working within a system. Ethan Hawke is excellent at being an innocent and inexperienced view of getting involved in criminal enterprise. It makes it very easy to ease your way into the plot of the movie. I do like when movies don't have the most obvious of antagonists. When the conflict that comes forth and concludes in a movie is not what you would generally expect, it really gives a breath of fresh air. Denzel Washington really puts in a pretty awesome performance. I particularly like at the end of the movie when he is conflicting with everyone in his neighborhood.

I absolutely enjoyed Denzel’s performance in this film but what stood out was the acting from rappers dr.Dre and snoop dogg. Usually when we see rappers in movies they’re acting is sub par but they killed their performance.

While the story isn’t the most engaging, Training Day manages to stay entertaining throughout it’s runtime with great action scenes, solid characters, and really good performances from Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke

Wow, I loved this and it caught me off guard in a good way. Denzel blew me away. He and his character are both absolutely masterful. The film does a great job of putting you in the shoes of the characters as they straddle truth, justice, and morality.
