Transsiberian Reviews

Inexorable suspense. Hitchcock would approve.

A nice thrill ride from China to Russia. It wasn't as good as I'd thought it would be. Nice twist but the story we've seen many times only this version is on a train. The performances were good. Tim Treakle

A great train ride mystery. The scenery is beautiful, the acting perfect and the plot twists entrancing.

Good movie. The best moments are in the middle part when the female protagonist felt nervous and guilty for what she had done. The final part, while still absorbing, abandoned finesse and subtlety for adrenaline and action.

Generally well-made, sometimes suspenseful and often exciting, this is one of those thrillers that establishes the scene effectively and introduces the main characters well initially, but then becomes increasingly less plausible as it goes along. Mortimer is outstanding throughout (although she's simply too smart a character to, for example, believably travel on a whim with a suspicious stranger to the middle of nowhere in a foreign country—in minus 23 degree cold—all while somehow conveniently forgetting about the stranger's absent girlfriend [Mara] that she'd earlier befriended!). Kingsley dominates his scenes, as usual. However, Harrelson, a fine actor in other films, is simply impossible to take seriously here. Overall, it's worth a look, but only if you don't scrutinize some of the details of the complicated plot.

Good cast. I did not know where this movie was going. Lots of neat twists. Really good movie.

Femdom at its best. May have just as well castrated Woody Harrelson.

I don't really know what to say here

Tight and effective little thriller, although in places relying a little too heavily on coincidence.

Sim no youtube Nota: 9

Good Movie about a Cold Train Trip Across Russia in the Dead of Winter. It has a little mystery to it, but nothing you haven't seen before.

Thriller dalle ambientazioni uniche e ben studiate in diversi piccoli dettagli.

In Transsiberian, Jessie (Emily Mortimer) and Roy (Woody Harrelson) decide to travel from Beijing to Moscow via train, meeting Abby (Kate Mara) and Carlos (Eduardo Noriega) along the way. Before you can take a shot of vodka and say nostrovia, they are immersed in a world of heroin smuggling, corrupt cops, torture and murder. If you can get past the shaky camerawork, some stilted dialogue, lots of eye-rolling adages ("In Russia, we say…"), a seemingly miscast Harrelson, and a laughable climax, it's inexplicably interesting and surprisingly suspenseful. Throw in some lovely scenery and a solid performance by Ben Kingsley as a corrupt Russian narcotics agent and you have a classic guilty pleasure movie.

The first half of the film builds the tension through expertly crafted noir atmosphere and character development. Unfortunately, the second half, while suspenseful, relies on unrealistically stupid actions by the protagonist, a twist ending that isn't believable, and some totally unexplained loose ends.

Just another movie with lots of holes in the outdated plot.

Interesting from the start, doesn't lose your attention once. Great, exciting film.

You get exactly what you wanted in This film. It's nothing memorable but I enjoyed it

It takes a little while to get to the pinnacle of the story, but it's definitely worth seeing.

Entertaining. Keeps you guessing. Slightly improbable at the end but not dissatisfying.
