Tremors Reviews

Apr 17, 2025

A very fun monster flick with infectious energy.

This should be under the definition of a popcorn movie. I think many will find a weak sense of fright from the antagonist worms here. Cult classic for I don't know what reasons to be honest. Worth a watch I suppose, but you shouldn't feel too bad for skipping this one.

The film wastes no time getting to the action. The pacing is tight, the dialogue is sharp, and the problem-solving elements (like pole-vaulting over rocks to avoid the Graboids) keep things fresh. Unlike many horror movies where characters make dumb decisions, the people in Tremors are resourceful and quick-thinking, making it even more enjoyable to watch.

Rewatched this as I loved this flick as a kid and enjoyed it just as much now as then. The monsters is this film are really cool and well done considering this was made in the pre CGI error. I also like how it’s a horror that’s set in a unique setting, the fact it’s daytime and in a barren desert like landscape.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, o elenco do filme é bacaninha, mas não ajuda a ser bom, as cenas são fracas, junto com o verme que é ruim no filme.

This is a perfect movie in every way. Outstanding characters, everyone seems to make logical decisions (rarely the case in horror movies), the pacing is excellent, and it it gracefully walks the line between being real and yet still not taking itself too seriously. I always described this movie as the cinematic equivalent to being on a roller coaster - it’s a little scary, makes you a little uneasy, but by the end you’re grinning from ear to ear and want to go again.

A really cool creature feature 35 years later Who would’ve thought this would start an underground franchise consisting of 4 sequels? Director Ron Underwood makes a dry land version of ‘Jaws’ in the desert landscapes of America A small town Perfection, Nevada has residents living their own dull lives Kevin Bacon and Burt Ward are Val and Earl; two repairmen tired of life passing by But things change big time when a swarm of underground creatures start swallowing them up These giant wormlike beasts hide under the dirt burrowing their way through being they’re subterranean by nature for eons Now Val and Earl along with a seismologist named Rhonda work together to avoid them and possibly exterminate them It’s not really a horror movie per se but plenty of thrills and excitement from beginning to end The Tremor creatures are wonderfully made with convincing practical effects adapting just like the human prey Bacon’s performance is surefire and Ward does a very good job as his best buddy Gross kicks some serious butt and firepower along with McEntire The humor in the script also keeps this movie quite fresh, and once again it’s another film that makes a throwback to 1950’s B-movie cinema I’m so glad you actually care about these people and they didn’t make them into bumbling idiots Tremors is another one of those movies that thrills, moves gracefully, and delivers with no difficulty Yes it’s not scary but it’s full of fun banter while it acts an homage to creature features being in on the joke inventing its own sub genre embracing the absurd, self mocking awareness

3/4 Tremors draws parallels to Back To The Future, where it can fit into many genres. Horror, Sci-fi, Adventure, Comedy, Buddy Film, Monster Movie. It works on all levels.

Perfect for what it is.

Good, campy creature feature. Kevin Bacon and Whatshisface have really good chemistry, so it’s fun to watch them do just about anything on screen. The effects are absolutely lovely, using almost exclusively practical effects that have held up really well over the years. And even though everything is pretty silly, it actually suspends your disbelief long enough to build a good amount of tension. It does maybe wear its premise a little thin, but it’s all-around entertaining.

A 90’s B-movie classic featuring a punch/counterpunch formula of witless humans versus witty monsters in the Nevada desert. It’s a fun, funny, effortless blast to sit through!

Excellent monster movie with great characterisation.

What’s not to love! This is a film that knows exactly what is it and doesn’t pretend, or need, to be anything else. I loved it in the 90s and re-watching in 2024 didn’t disappoint.

What a great creature horror comedy movie. Great cast and direction. The characters are some of the best written in any movie. Tim Treakle

Creatively and lovingly devoted to its B-movie personality, 'Tremors' is an endearing cult classic even if it pulls too much inspiration from other films at times...
