True Lies Reviews
Cameron did good here. Whole cast excels in character, cinematography is great and story is made quite interesting. Lots of action, twists and turns and humor also thrown in for good measure. Always have a good time watching this, highly recommended
Thoroughly enjoyed it, cast did wonderful!
Troubling Arab depictions aside, this is a fun series of action set pieces woven into a half baked plot undeserving of its talented production and performers. MILD SPOILERS: One thing that has always baffled me is Helen taking a back seat in the third act. The film is about her and Harry's relationship yes? I think it should have been her in the helicopter (somehow?), and that Harry could be telling her what to do through a radio system or something. As it is its weird she not there
A dumb movie, but you expect it to be dumb.
Technical Effects and Nostalgia The technical effects in True Lies are outstanding, especially for its time. The opening scene in the chateau, with the crunching ice and snow, is particularly memorable. The sound design is so immersive that you can almost feel the cold and hear the ice crunching beneath the characters’ feet. This attention to detail brings a sense of nostalgia and realism to the film. Humor and Chemistry The humorous interactions between Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold Schwarzenegger are a highlight. Their chemistry adds a layer of charm and wit to the movie, making the comedic scenes feel natural and credible. The balance between humor and action is perfectly timed, ensuring that the audience is entertained throughout the film. Pacing and Balance The pacing of True Lies is impeccable. The movie never feels slow or drawn out, maintaining a perfect balance between action sequences and humorous moments. This makes it a film that you can watch repeatedly without getting tired of it. James Cameron’s Direction When you first watch True Lies, you might not immediately recognize James Cameron’s signature style. However, upon reflection, it’s clear that his meticulous attention to detail and ability to blend different genres seamlessly are evident. Cameron’s direction turns True Lies into a piece of art, much like his other films. Overall, True Lies is a well-crafted film that combines technical excellence, humor, and action in a way that keeps audiences engaged and entertained. It’s a movie that stands the test of time and remains enjoyable to watch again and again.
One of the best action movies ever made, though it may not reach the height of some of Cameron’s other work but boy does it sure set out to do what it was meant to do. It has a great score, awesome visuals and effects, cinematography is pretty good here, story is pretty good can be a bit over the top at some points but still a pretty good story, and lets not forget the comedy done in this film where Tom Arnold and Bill Paxton really steal the show here. This film is much better than what people give it hints the reason it’s considered by many as one of the best action films ever made to date 💯💯
True Lies isn’t as satirical as Last Action Hero, which came out the year before, but this tongue-in-cheek action flick still stands firmly on the border of ridiculousness. James Cameron was already pushing the budgetary boundaries, since this was the first movie to cost $100 million, and you can see his fingerprints all over the film. Arnold Schwarzenegger seems to be having a great time in the starring role, as does Jamie Lee Curtis. And I didn’t find Tom Arnold that annoying, which is impressive. The budget and runtime may be a little bloated, but True Lies is a solid movie-viewing experience.
The best action movie of the 1990's was Speed but this one might just be the second best with it's campy Mr. and Mrs. Smith plot.
True Lies is thought to be one of the great 90's action movies, but I don't agree with that. It's not bad, but it's far from any of the first three Die Hard movies or Mission: Impossible. Cinematography and editing was very 90's for obvoius reasons and I liked it. The first half of the story is great, I enjoyed it very much and didn't expect the second half to be less enjoyable, but unfortuantely that was the case for me. I totally understand this is action comedy, but there were too many cheesy lines and cheesy deliveries mostly from Arnold Schwarzenegger. I still enjoyed it very much, so the movie's not bad just not as good as I hoped it to be.
Granaten mit Fellbezug Das ist Eis und das ist manchmal rutschig Nimm mal kurz dein Grinsen weg Hier passt alles, die Action und die doofen Sprüche
Even if Arnold's performance is lukewarm, the extravagant storytelling justifies it's running time and then some!
Very entertaining. Outside the Terminator franchise this is Arnold Schwarzenegger's best film and he is helped greatly by Jamie Lee Curtis in one of her best lighthearted roles. This was one of the first movies that truly started to upstage James Bond on a slightly more family friendly note. Big budget but don't dismiss it, it's a decent and entertaining watch.
How can you expect to save the world while you're also trying to save your marraige?! Harry Tasker is a secret agent tasked with destroying a terrorist cell, only to realize that his cover as a salesman has distanced him from his wife and daughter, and his attempts to get closer to both of them put targets on their backs. With impressive chemistry between Arnie and Jamie, this action comedy still manages to bring on the thrills and giggles at the same time!
A great action flick. Arnold has lost nothing since being the governator. Stellar suporting cast. A little hard on the arabs but otherwise a rolicking visual feast and fun.
James Cameron again. The man can do no wrong. Classic
This movie in my opinion is amazing classic! my favorite line from Arnold Schwarzenegger was "You're fired" great movie you should see it yourself
VERY good action scenes, but the rest belongs at the dump. Unbelievably bad script, weird tone and the humour isn't funny at all. A very strange experience.
I loved this movie when I was ten years old. I loved it when I was 21 years old. And I loved it four days ago when I was 36.
A classic that was fun to revisit. One of Arnold's best performances imo, it just loses its super fun factor in the second half of the movie once Jamie Lee Curtis figures out who Arnold is.
