Typhoon Reviews
Caught up in a triple vortex of poor scripting, unexciting action and leads you couldn't care less about, the pic boasts good production values but little else.
A melodrama about a divided peninsula, a botched asylum attempt, and terrorism as revenge. "Typhoon is a goofy mess, like a poor man's Tony Scott movie, [but] plenty exhilarating in all the right spots." "The action comes fast and thick, and the sentimentality reaches [operatic] proportions." "A testosterone-driven, Jerry Bruckheimer-style action film as overblown as its title suggests."
Action packed movie with a not too shabby plot! But you just wonder why just one person would go and catch a cross country villain instead of a whole team?! A bit unbelievable! But still somewhat entertaining.
it had to many elements to much story if thats possible i cared for the bad guy hes a tremendous actor good movie give a try its about love family war corruption and an awesome knife fight
Big budget Korean action drama about a modern day pirate with a serious grudge against both North and South Korea who threatens to unleash a nuclear cloud above both countries. It's all quite Americanized and resembles a Jerry Bruckheimer production at times, but it has its fair share of drama too as the back story and motives of the villain are played out. It's a pretty slick film with well staged action sequences but nothing we haven't seen before from Hollywood.
Dramatic story of the legend of SIN(Jang Dong-Kun), struggle with traumas & humanity. But I also like the charactor of the police, Naval Lieutenant Kang Se-jong(Lee Jung-Jae).
What a brilliant movie of a North Korean man who steals some nuclear waste and plans on dropping it on the Korean peninsula for an incident that happened 20 years previously when his family were denied asylum in the South. This led to his parents being murdered and seperation from his older sister. A South Korean agent is ordered to find and take him out. This was such an exciting thriller and well thought out. Loved the devastating opening sequence of pirates hijacking a ship. Miles better than a lot of Hollywood's output these days.
This Korean film is actually a melodrama cleverly disguised as an action thriller. Sure, on the surface there are plenty of gunfights and firepower, and the plot is about an impending terrorist act thrust upon South Korea. However, at its core the movie is about a North Korean family scorned and denied entry into the South, and the bitter aftermath of the surviving brother and sister. That inner story is truly touching and in the end plenty of sorrow. Typical reliable korean storytelling with fine acting especially by the villian more so than the stoic hero. Overall, definitely worth a watch!

Action Packed?! Naw. This Movie is everything but NOT Action packed. Unlike other Asia Movies with all that Hi hu ha and Kiyayu and all that Dragon thing and Kungfu thing, Typhoon is really different. Dont get me Wrong MOI IZ A ACTION and all that Kiyayu thingy FAN too though it was refreshing to watch an Asian Movie without all those "Asia Klicheé" for a change. A mystery to me why some Folks titled it as "Action Packed" Typhoon is a political-thriller àla Asia. DUH! Ah well perhaps I guess some Folks got pissed off because America was not the Center in a Political Thriller this time. I guess many Folks expected Typhoon sort of all that "Asia Klicheè" such as John Woo&co Movies thats why all that underating. Super Directing and great Acting. Yes Sad as well, though what I liked it wasnt overdramatised. And even till at the End there is NO KUNGFU thing. The last about 40 min were very interesting for me.

Strong Korean Action Thriller.Strongly Plotted & Well Paced.Outstanding Performances & Well Directed,Well Worth Watching!Proving Once Again The Supremacy Of Korean Cinema Over Hollywood.
One of the most expensive Korean movies at the time of production. Nevertheless I prefer 'the Host' much more. This is a nice action movie in Korean style (a lot of teary and melodramatic pieces). But even the pathos is not becoming ridiculous like in American productions which is a serious advantage of Korean cinema. Why? A good question - maybe Koreans are just more true about it? "Typhoon" could be done better but it's quite ok anyway.
It tried hard to be some sort of Korean James Bond or Mission Impossible film but it just was not done well. The acting was very poor. I wasn't able to finish it.
I wish it hadn't been so awkward in the way "patriotic" scenes and childhood memories were handled.
nicely shot, an action thriller that can definitely stand up to anything Hollywood can come up with, a little cheesy and some unnecessary choices in music for some scenes, but overall a decent film
Not too much of an interesting Korean movie. It was fairly boring to me for the most part. The movie could have been done a whole lot better.
