U-571 Reviews
Rotten tomatoes has no clue what a good movie is. It's a waste of time looking at their ratings. If they rate something high, than its a shity movie
Many cannot just simply enjoy most films! Yes this has flaws and the acting is average but it is still half decent enough entertainment compared to most mindless awful yarn these days thrown together quick by Hollywood. Still a worthy watch. 3 of 5 stars.
What is the matter with film makers, do they think their audience are all stupid? Five minutes into the movie and the action culminates in the German U boat surfacing as it is damaged by a British destroyers depth charges. Er.... where is the destroyer? Gone! Nowhere to be seen. Joke of a film
This film is actually an insult to those who fought and died. With so many real stories of heroic action during WW2, why make up such phony nonsense? Hollywood at its worst.
A great cast has to tun around and scream in a way too loud, bad filmscore that is composed way too heroic just to wetten US Americans‘ panties.
I enjoyed this. The claustrophobic scenes reflect life inside a sub, and it's gripping and exciting.
Not great, not bad. Would've got 3 stars if not for the overly dramatic creative licensing on historical events. Some tense moments, but overall pretty average.
Usual submarine fare... sonor pings, pressure leaks, depth charges etc. But when the climax arrives the special effects are far from special.
Literally the worst submarine movie ever.
Utterly implausible hocus with acting to match
Great story and the pacing was pretty good
Tinned ham .... with mustard
Exciting and well-acted. Great cast. Couldn't ask for a better thriller.
Run Loud. Run Shallow. So there was that movie with, of all people, Clark Gable as a submarine captain back in the '50s. "Run Silent, Run Deep." Then Star Trek picked it up and added the idea that there was a secret mission to capture enemy intelligence, but basically plagiarized the entire plot in "Balance of Terror." U-571 doesn't even bother plagiarizing the original, but takes pretty much every bit of its plot from the Star Trek episode, adding a few little squiggles here and there that don't do nearly enough to render it interesting in its own right.
This movie has a great cast and delivers a solid historical action movie.
In the WWII movies of the 1950's to 1980's vets reigned in excesses with their first hand accounts based on reality. This move had a great first half. The second half deteriorated then got ridiculous at the end. Impossibly heroic, last minute save by a crewman destined to die and a nearly impossible spot stern shot. WWII batteries that lasted far too long and a diesel coming to life.....absurd. An insult to the WWII era movies. It could have been great if they just were not so cowardly and told a remotely believable version of what could have happened.
Great story! Pretty intense!!
The greatest 01 hour: and 56 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate this film, its so far from the truth and just Holywood mush bigging up America and ww2, its utter garbage,as something of war film buff and ww1 n 2 historian it makes my blood boil just seeing the title .
Still a great and enjoyable movie.
