Undercover Brother Reviews
There are thousands of reviews, so you don't really need this one, but maybe I can clear one thing up: IT'S A COMEDY. It's not social commentary, for which you should read a book. It's not a racial manifesto, for which you should write one. Lighten up, people. A comedy should make you laugh. (Note the period at the end of that sentence.) This will make you laugh unless you're so far up yourself you can't breathe. The intro alone is a scream. And the music is phenomenal.
Just an excuse for interracial porn.
I was told this movie was hilarious. It was not hilarious.
So silly! So many good racial jokes and innuendos!
Griffin is entertaining as the lead, but the comedy comes fails to connect as well as it should. Undercover Brother is still not entirely bad.
Awesome and underrated movie with fun social satire and specific cultural gags that almost all land. I am probably as white as one can be and I do indeed love mayonnaise.
The titular character played by Eddie Griffin is recruited to infiltrate a sinister underground movement headed by The Man He's partnered with sassy Sistah Girl and must adjust to looking the part complete with penny loafers and tennis sweaters It's all to take down operation Whitewash But after meeting White She Devil who is a sexy white lady it creates tension as you'd expect with her making UC act as white as possible Watched this a few years ago I found myself laughing so much at the ridiculousness Eddie Griffin is hysterical in the tradition of Austin Powers 'Undercover Brother' pokes fun at the Blaxploitation era while also making tons of racial satire Malcolm D. Lee not only shows a modern secret agent flick but also tackling the racial barriers that have been present to us and unknown to everyone else Yes not all the jokes work perfectly but man is it a visual riot Heck you wont even trust your eyes at half the stuff that happens There's big supporting players like Billy Dee Williams, Dave Chappelle and Denise Richards adding some sprinkle to the utter hilarity Whether black or white it's teamwork that matters
Stupid but hilarious
A more urban Austin Powers. Some very good jokes that are racial without being offensive and a solid cast with good comedic pacing.
Undercover Brother is absolutely a hilarious blaxploitation-spoof spy comedy film and the jokes are very clever especially Dave Chappelle and Neil Patrick Harris brings laughter on the screen.
Dave Chappelle's character made this movie extra hilarious
The blaxploitation subgenre devolves once entered the new millennium before degrading into simple-minded parodies, and this film is unpleasingly comparable to two earlier stinkers but thankfully enjoyable over its balanced, successfully sporadic fun, jokingly thought-provoking satire between black slapstick and white embodiment with an extra pop cultural mile. (B-)
Not the cleverest comedy, but not intended to be.
It's an easy watch that I can say positively about this movie and also Dave Chappele and the guy who plays smart brother is pretty funny. This is your generic throw away comedy. It's nothing really special. If you want special go watch dolemite the original or shaft or maybe even super fly but this is just cringy.
amusing skit that goes on a bit long.
This is a hysterically offensive movie. If you're overly sensitive to racial stereotypes - then you may not like it. But if you can take silly stereotypes at face value - and you enjoyed the Austin Powers spoofs -- this movie will make you laugh. I loved how it was an equal-opportunity offender. It took shots at everybody - although I thought the Chris Kattan character was the weakest - he did stupid stuff just to beef up his role. Otherwise, it's somewhat of an all-star cast with Griffin, Chappelle, both Williams, McBride - plus Harris and Richards were also good. And Ellis was great as Sistah Girl. This was a very funny movie set to an amazing soundtrack. The jokes continue until the very end -- a solid script and fun, entertaining movie. Well worth checking it out!

Basically in the same veins of Black Dynamite, though that is not a bad thing.
