Brazil without icing. Or maybe even cake.

One of the most underrated films of the decade. British filmmaking at its finest. Surreal dark comedy minus the comedy. Dark and jarring. Following the narrative is like having a knife fight in a closet. An adventure that you weren't looking for, yet can't look away away from. Stark and bleak and yet totally compelling. If you want to see something different watch this. Watch it even if you don't. There's truly no way to prepare you anyway.

"ART"-Movie Thats everthing you need to know.

Meandering, with each story bleeding beautifully into the next, we don't spend a lot of time with any particular character. Instead, the stories told each add unique insight in building a bleak, yet authentic, world.

The dystopian setting is interesting but that is all you're given time to be interested in. Too many different stories without proper build and too quickly paced to connect with any of them. The ‘glue' holding it all together isn't very good, almost non-existent.

Overall, this might be a real treat if you seek a sci-fi story that attempts to be quite dark with its visuals, humour, and drama. It's a film that contains various characters and stories that all have one thing in common- tragedy and sad consequences. Some characters throughout are generally interesting, but with no conclusion ever given for the vast majority of them, I found my time, for the most part, to be wasted. I was left questioning the purposes of this film and feeling rather disappointed.

In a dystopian future Europe, feelings have broken down and the awful is normal. Bodies are sold; marriages are tenuous; sanity is overrated. Interlocking stories present us with a portrait of this world: A man who shows up to help; a corrupt businessman who loses more than he gains; a family learning a long lost relative is still alive. If you enjoy films with a strong plot, this isn't for you. If you enjoy films that immerse you in a surreal landscape then you'll likely enjoy this. Many approaches could be taken to interpret what the film means but one clear theme pervades: the collapse of patriarchy. This is a stylish, gloomy, and intriguing film. Very solid performances by all the actors.

Very odd movie this one. Visually, gloomy and tense. Thankfully it doesn't overcook the plot and requires less than 90 minutes of your attention. There's plenty worse you could watch…then again, there's plenty better movies you could watch as well. If nothing better on offer, give it a go.

It is almost unbelievable that most critics from the audience differ from the critic's ones. But I have no doubt in considering this movie one of the most interesting in the dystopian/apocalyptic genre. Capitalism, materialism and authority are all sickening realities portrayed in a clever way.

Too high concept for me. Couldn't follow the story/time/place jumps. Skip this one.

Meander through several interconnected stories as their protagonists each face a uniquely bleak future.

As a Kafka fan, I am attracted to movies such as this, and this one really captured the oft-repeated pattern of a Kafka trope of the 'unsuccessful arrival'. It's a bit like repeatedly tripping over a rope held at knee height... The structure of the movie was also unexpected, as I couldn't tell when one story stopped and another began, and actually watched the first part over again to see if one of the characters was the same as in the ending bit (it wasn't). It's this type of interaction I so rarely get to enjoy in a movie, and for that alone, It'll remain one of the most memorable movies I've seen in quite some time. If you're up for something a bit different, it's great - just make sure you WATCH the movie, and not listen to it while staring at your phone! Yes - you I'm talking about.

Don't bother, I sure wish I didn't. This is a story that didn't need to be told. Characters don't act believable, situations could be comedic except that the director is being serious. Critics say look past the uneven narration...why should the audience need to do that? There is no message worth the effort.

You'll need to be on acid to fully enjoy this ride, albeit ignoring all the standard safety measures for said ride. Cinematography and visuals/effects: stunning. Wardrobe and backdrops/sets: jaw-dropping perfection (I wanted much more of the crumbling dystopian cityscapes). Casting and performances: exceptional. Music/score: on point. Directing and camera angles/shots: great (especially for a newb). The overall feel and tone as a dark dystopian science-fiction fantasy: outstanding. Newb filmmaker Chino Moya certainly is a visionary, and sharing his breathtaking vision through his eyes was a huge success. His style and design of the film is to be admired and marveled at. But his writing was rather dull and random, with stories that don't go anywhere, feel disconnected, and have an uneven narrative that made them feel incoherent. I do get his many dark-humor satirical metaphors, and although ambitious, the underwhelming domestic anthology dramas leave you with more questions than answers. His stories had plenty of style, but not much substance, and what was under the surface, needed much finessing and attention. Overall, there were so many brilliant qualities to Moya's feature film, that it would shame some seasoned filmmakers recent films. I just wish his screenplay was just as great. Nevertheless, a must watch for dystopian/sci-fi fans, even if just for the atmosphere and visuals.

Some interesting visuals but when narrative arc is not the point the message should be clear.... and it's not.

The British are always pretty clever with post-apocalyptic dystopias. This movie, however, with zero character building leaves us with no beginning, therefore, no resolution in the end. One last thing the movie reemphasizes plenty: beta men will die horrible sad deaths. Stay alpha.
