Drawing on torn-from-the-headlines events and B-movie history, Hill and his co-writer, David Giler, fill out their premise with hardboiled irony and gusto.

At 90 minutes this movie is short, but it feels much longer.

Undisputed barely rises above the ordinary, but it does combine action, prisons, and boxing, boasts a good cast, and throws in some undisguised sociopolitical commentary.
