Virunga Reviews
The documentary "Virunga" highlights the immense challenges faced in Virunga National Park, home to critically endangered mountain gorillas. brings to light the tireless efforts of conservationists and rangers protecting these gorillas from poaching and habitat loss. This film critiques the often unchecked pursuit of economic interests at the expense of irreplaceable natural heritage, underscoring the need for more responsible and sustainable approaches that value both people and the environment. It's pretty fascinating (and really infuriating) stuff.

The movie was very informative! It demonstrates people devoting their lives to save the environment and the living organisms that live in it. This documentary contains situations that the audience could feel sympathy for the living organisms and how their species are slowly becoming extinct due to human interaction.
Captivating, intense, raw and emotional from the get-go. You're swallowed up in this chaotic way, swirled around in a world of corruption, greed & deep anger and somehow come out on the other side with a feeling of inspiration to do all you can to make a difference to not only this national park but to the world. Worth every second of my attention.
4/7/20 - gave it 4.5 stars
Incredible documentary about the strife in Congo
Almost half of the revolutionary revelation is a nature documentary that shows what beauty is being destroyed by the greedy which makes up the rest as political with passionate, defensive war in between to counter the conservative evil. It's a shocking battle of good vs. evil with the former's protective strength being inspiring in protecting what they love to reach out and successfully resonate supportive emotions while the presented mission encouragingly represents similar struggles that could find increased strength. (A-) (Full review TBD)
Incredible acts of bravery for the small gem that we have left worth protecting. Beautiful, touching and sad at the same time.
The dramatic, terrifying developments later in this film firmly establish Rodrigue, André, and Emmanuel as semi-mythical heroes, with their humility and honor stealing the show.
Produced by Leonardo De Caprio. Seriously the best movie I've ever seen. People are so caught up in their own lives they do not realize certain devastations that should be made prominent. I'm so thankful my anthro teacher made me watch this because it's a life changer. Watch this movie!!!!!! Save the gorillas!!!
What an intense documentary. Starts with gorillas, then there's evil oil, before a civil war erupts. And this is all true.
This movie clearly depicts the urgency of the situation in an action packed yet dramatic film. It aims at appealing to viewers emotions to convey the movie's message. The war scenes do just the trick as it is upsetting to watch. It is truly a powerful movie that depicts the greedy government and unaware society. It allows viewers to realize that these forests are worth the fight and should be treasured.
Virunga was a documentary that captured all of the dramas with African rangers and gorillas. While watching this film, it brought o the emotions of feeling sorrow and pain for the instances these gorillas faced at this time. The suspenseful scenes are the ones that allowed me to stay intrigued with the plot. The film was extremely informative and informational. I would definitely recommend this to many other people who many not be aware of this film and the African habitats that contain these endangered species.
In the forest of Congo a national park, known as one of the most bio-diverse places on this planet, is in danger. A very small group of rangers are doing everything in their power to protect the species and mountain gorillas. This forest is being protected from armed militia and poachers. Congos rich natural resources make it hard for many to keep away. The rangers are doing everything in their power to protect what they have worked really hard for.
Virunga, directed by Orlando van Einsiedel, is an educational documentary, discussing the fight between park rangers and African rebels over territory in Virunga National Park. The Virunga National Park is a UNSECO world heritage site that is being actively tarnished by poachers and armed militia. I found the film to be very informational. The documentary mashed up various viewpoints from correspondents and park rangers who provided their viewpoints on the issue; which ultimately benefitted the movie by giving multiple thoughts regarding the ordeal. Hidden cameras on reporters provide in-depth conversations with rebels that bring the movie to life and help the viewer understand the behind the scenes drama.
Virunga is a national park in Congo that is being affected by militia groups. All the fighting is destroying the area's natural beauty and the last number of free mountain gorillas. This film captures the love and determination the park rangers have for the park, that they're willing to risk their lives for. The bond between the gorillas and park rangers is so strong that it can be felt when watching. Virunga shows how the people feel about the militia coming in and causing chaos for them. I highly suggest watching this film, it'll move your heart.
Virunga was a truly inspiring documentary! It gave so much more meaning than just rangers protecting the lives of these innocent gorillas, which were like family to them. I especially loved the connection between the caregivers and the gorillas, I'm jealous. The playful gorillas had such a strong connection to the rangers and it was completely noticeable that they trusted and loved the rangers as well. The message of the movie beautiful portrayed such a strong bond between man and gorilla.
