While "Vivarium" begins with an intriguing and promising premise, the film ultimately disappoints by failing to deliver meaningful answers to the questions it raises. The narrative structure could be described as hollow - appearing clever on the surface but lacking substantive resolution. The initial setup successfully draws viewers in, but the story progressively unravels into an exercise in frustration rather than satisfaction. The filmmakers present spectacular and unsettling imagery but seem to have no clear destination for the narrative threads they establish. This represents a particularly frustrating category of films that prioritize atmosphere and concept over coherent storytelling. The audience invests time and attention expecting payoff for the mysteries presented, but instead receives ambiguity that feels less like artistic intention and more like narrative abandonment. Films with deliberately open-ended or abstract conclusions should perhaps be more clearly marketed as such, allowing viewers to make informed choices about whether they prefer conclusive storytelling or more experimental narrative structures where questions intentionally remain unanswered. Aside from being spectacular it is empty really leaving viewers with beautiful imagery but little lasting impact or purpose.

I completely understand the underlying message but... it was a waste of my time and was not a thriller like it was portrayed as. Very disappointing

i loved this film. i do wish there was more meaning to it, but it was very good nether the less. had me guessing for what was coming next, i really enjoyed it.

Ignore like the plague. Idea is good, but has no explanation to what's going on or why. And it just ends after a weird 1-2 minute long scene that doesn't help clear anything up.

Most importantly the movie was entertaining, and is a great example of a thriller which causes you to question everything and look for answers. Whilst the movie did have many plot holes and random moments, most of the key parts of the story make sense if you watch an analysis video. All in all a fun and interntaining thriller which, whilst has its issues, is recommended by me to people who love complex stories and psychological thrillers.

A science-fiction/horror hybrid starring Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots They play a couple that just want a place to call home But they might end up getting too much of a good thing All of us want that vivarium or place of life Jenna and Tom choose a suburban neighborhood called Yonder to one day raise a child Unfortunately they find themselves trapped like rats when they discover they can’t leave and keep going in circles Both of them are forced to stay in Yonder and make the most of it then things change when an actual child comes into their lives via a delivery box It’s a moody experience to say the least But Eisenberg and Poots are good together as they struggle to adapt to the life they imagined but not the one they were prepared for; suburbia, marriage, and parenthood are all equally frustrating The last act gets quite surreal A devastating conclusion pretty much sums up how we as people can get suckered into a false dream, it inspires reflection on the nature of reality, and the struggle for freedom in a homogeneous controlled world commercializing our idea of happiness There is social commentary about parasitism, shackles of domestic life, and a descent into suburbanite madness It could’ve been better though

Depressing. Heavy on allegory. Rich Hollywood stars despising common people and ordinary life is a theme I guess. Also, looooong and boring.

I could not recommend this movie, and absolute bore with no explanation to anything, yes hidden messages but even those are mundane. Whatch it and waste your time that simple, as they did raising some thing.

That movie was so slow. I could sum up the entire thing in one paragraph. I guess the only good part was watching Jesse Eisenberg slowly descend into madness.

Original, unsettling and an excellent unexpected story. Ignore the percentages, not enough lycra and explosions for most.

Quite a good, creepy watch. Based on sound theoretical science ie: multi dimensions (towards the end) where Gemma ends up in other versions of the house.

Weird, original and terrifying descent into madness, unforgettable.

I don't find slow burn movies necessarily bad but this movie starts with an interesting premise and then does very little with it. I'd avoid watching it unless you need something to help you sleep.

Dumb, stupid, huge waste of time. Don't watch it, don't rent it, don't buy it, just trust me when I say it's a stupid movie. I don't think I've heard anyone online say it's a worth while watch and if they have they're also dumb. Only a simpleton would find this movie worth watching. If u have any self respect, don't watch it, find something better to do with your life please, I wish I had read more reviews before watching this. May the creators never make another movie again 🙏

Phenomenal. The audience who didn't like it probably have really short attention span and small brains.

This movie is like 1970's Kiss or the rolling stones, some will love it, some will like it and some will hate it. I liked it very much, however it's a 3am, rainy day, or when your high kind of movie. I love Jesse's movies and knew it had to have something clever about it and the film delivered.

I'm just glad I have a fast forward feature on my streaming controller. This was perhaps the dullest film I've ever viewed. The irony of a story that goes nowhere featuring characters that go nowhere apparently escaped the dullard who produced this mind numbing junk. However, it does a great job of demonstrating how badly the film industry has declined in the last generation. This crapola will put you to sleep faster than any barbituate.

one garbage can of a movie.. no twists.. no turns.. nothing learned.. not even particularly interesting unless a senseless storyline is something you cherish. Any critic who says this was somehow interesting must have been watching something else, or been in a coma. or both. About the same as a story about someone dismayed that they can't bake a cake, walks outside and is hit by a meteor and dies instantly. Someone should search out all the copies of this movie and destroy them.. and the director too. A totally useless waste of time.
