Waiting ... Reviews
As routine and bland as the food our protagonists are forced to serve.

We can handle anything a prankster like McKittrick can dish out, if he doesn't treat us like the customer in Waiting who sends an undercooked steak back to the kitchen. He thinks comedy is all bodily fluids and cruel gutter talk...

Instead, it fizzles like the stale beer served at a bad restaurant...

A repellent American comedy...

Were the dialogue funnier and the characters more endearing, the film's total lack of forward momentum would be a winning quality...

...a spare premise that's utilized to surprisingly positive effect...
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Mar 19, 2011
An undercooked, overdone raunchy comedy.

It made me laugh. Out loud, a lot, and wildly, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Luis Guzman is especially funny as a sex-crazed head cook obsessed with a staff game that becomes a centerpiece of the film's humor.

Some jokes hit their mark, but mostly in "Waiting%u2026," what you're really waiting for is inspiration.

Pretty much everything that happens, and everyone who appears, seems to have been machine-tooled to appeal to the slacker constituency.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jun 3, 2006
For what's essentially a raucous, gross-out comedy, this is a surprisingly tame film.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Jun 3, 2006
Trying to do for steakhouses what Caddyshack did for golf courses, this meager movie aims to make the world of baked potatoes and porterhouses a haven for memorable profanity.

You'd have more fun actually working in a restaurant. Probably.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Jun 3, 2006
Despite its flaws, it really is a funny, witty, and suprisingly charming slob comedy
| Original Score: 4/5 | Mar 27, 2006
McKittrick neglects to realize that his target audience (males, ages 18-25) presumably aren't interested in seeing or hearing about the male genitalia at any time...

We have to watch [the cast] struggle and squirm just to make each scene not as horrible as the last.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Jan 30, 2006
For anyone who has ever worked in the restaurant industry, Waiting may just be the funniest movie you've ever seen. And for those who haven't, it's probably one of the dumbest films you're likely to see all year.

Subplots include a running gag where the guys all compete at flashing their dicks. You know it's a 21st century movie because the characters are self-conscious about their sexism and homophobia.

A silly, awkward, but sometimes very funny movie.
