Waiting ... Reviews

Mar 25, 2025

While there are a lot of unfavorable reviews…I think it was funny and entertaining….keep in mind this is the kind of movie you need after a brutal day at work…too many reviewers are so uptight…everything doesn’t have to be a masterpiece…I recommend this movie…Reynolds character is awesome… smoke a little weed and I’m sure you’ll be happy! ✌🏼

One of my favorite movies of all time!! It is laugh out loud hilarious. Reminds me of waiting tables when I was in college. Highly recommended!! Don't listen to those boring critics who get offended easily...

Underrated comedy! Ahead of its time and the cast of comedy dreams. Raunchy but funny comedy. For the boys stuff! Every comedy fan should watch it at least once.

Oh how I wish they could still make films like this! Crude, low budget and far from perfect but I love it. So funny....

If you have ever worked in the industry during this time, you'll get all of it. If not you'll think it's just another gross out 2000's comedy. It's almost a documentary.

Like many, I only really became - properly - aware of Ryan Reynolds after he finally got the chance to play 'Deadpool.' Since then, I've been through some of his previous work and I can't help but feel that he plays pretty much the same character (dare I say he simply plays Ryan Reynolds?!) in everything he's ever been in. I know that may sound a little dismissive of his acting ability, but all I can think of is that old phrase 'if it ain't broke... don't fix it!' And Ryan Reynolds' act is very watchable and keeps bringing in the money at the Box Office. Here, he plays - arguably - another version of himself (or Deadpool, depending on how you want to look at it) who's the oldest waiter in a restaurant filled with younger staff. The film follows a day in the life of the team as they do their best to deal with their own personal problems and - more importantly - the dreaded customers. If you're thinking 'this sounds a little bit like Kevin Smith's Clerks' then you're probably right. There are some definite similarities. It's very low budget and has a real 'raw' feel about it, plus the jokes are generally generated through how staff deal with awful customers in restaurants (but most gags work if you've worked in any job that's 'customer-facing'). Despite definitely being classed as a 'comedy' I wouldn't say there are that many 'side-splitting' moments, however I found I sat tight with a decent-size smile on my face throughout the ninety minute run-time. The humour is also quite 'adult' so expect 'American Pie' levels of humour. It's definitely a 'Ryan Reynolds' film and its success relies heavily on his sheer natural charm and likability. Anna Farris is about the other main name you'll recognise, but she does seem a little underused for what she's capable of bringing to a comedy film. Overall, if you've ever worked in a job that involves dealing with the public, you'll sympathise with the waiters/waitresses you meet here. It's a decent enough comedy that definitely has more 'hit' jokes than misses.

Takes me back to the days in restaurants, I knew a character exactly like each of those on the movie. Very realistic in a condensed sort of way.

Worst movie I've seen for a long time

Such a hilarious flick. If you've ever worked in food service, you HAVE to watch this movie! It's unapologetically vulgar which in this day and age is a breath of fresh air. A lot of memorable scenes that will have you revisiting this gem! Great cast too! Ryan Reynolds in his prime (Van Wilder anyone?), the ever so talented Luis Guzman(Boogie Nights is the lick!), Anna Faris fresh off her Scary Movie come up, the gorgeous Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jordan Ladd, Kaitlin Doubleday, the oh so funny David Koechner, and more. Alanna Ubach had me in stitches as the disgruntled employee that's just fed up with everything, but he enough in her to put a perfect fake smile on for her annoying customers! The movie is a laugh riot. I highly recommend!

Brilliant old-school comedy, I wish there were movies like this today.

Anyone who worked in a restaurant in the 90s or Aughts may see pieces of this as familiar. True, they are exaggerated; but it feels fairly close to true. Really fantastic dumb/smart movie. Has a lot to say about people in that early stage of adulthood, their search, incentives in that side of the economy; and much else. Truly, if you ever worked at a restaurant, you tip your server. This this movie elucidates why.

Waiting... is an enjoyable enough indie comedy. The whole reason I watched it was because Ryan Reynolds was in it, and he was the best part of the film. The film is very entertaining, and there were actually a couple of parts that had me laughing out loud. All of the characters are pretty fun in this, and it's fun to see there interactions with one another. A restaurant is a perfect setting for a comedy like this, and they use it well. I didn't really care about the stuff going on with the main character, and that's a really important part of the film, that I should've been more invested in. Although a lot of jokes do land, there are still quite a bit of jokes that didn't. The movies dumb, sometimes too dumb for it's own good, but it's supposed to be dumb, and I still had some fun with it.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Definitely for the Southpark / Family Guy / Mad Magazine crowd.

This is one of those films that you watch 20 years later and see how much of a star-studded cast it actually had for its time. The premise of the story of the restaurant, and how all of the relationships intertwine with its raunchy humor all comes together for a classic 2000's film.

Made it through about the first 10 minutes and quit watching. Stupid and slow moving.
