WarGames Reviews

8.2/10. This philosophical thriller is an excellent pick for tweens and adults.

They make a huge error near the end of the movie when they declare: "Nobody plays Tic Tac Toe because you cannot win." This is untrue. If you avoid starting in the center square but instead start at one of the corners, you can indeed win.

WarGames is a very forward looking 80's film. It captures the "IT" personality way before IT was a thing. It even has a nod towards autism in one of the characters. But the main feature for nerdist is the way social engineering is used to hack into a computer. Way ahead of its time!

A very good movie about almost causing and then preventing Armegeddon. Well acted by young Matthew Brodderick and Ally Sheedy. Danny Coleman and excellent supporting cast make it very realistic and exciting.

It‘s a nice movie, all in all. But the stereotype of „not listening to the kid“ is annoying as always. And the girl is way too old for the role she‘s badly playing.

Who knew in 1983 that Matthew Broderick would be fighting AI in a war game? If this happened today, the entire world would be destroyed by a nuclear arsenal.

What an interesting premise. Very thought provoking and thrilling, leading us to the obvious conclusion, of course, that in order to win, one must not play the game. Must have been quite something when it first came out in the 80s

I'm on an 80's kick right now and Wargames is the cause of it. This was my first watch and I was pleasantly surprised. Matthew Broderick is fantastic, and I didn't even recognize Ally Sheedy. Some of the supporting actors are particularly weak (like the General caricature), but for the most part the cast was great. The whole concept is a bit absurd, but it works. Seeing how much technology has advanced in the last 40 years is fascinating. The Tic Tac Toe idea is brilliant, the raw corn rubbed in buttered bread made me laugh out loud, and I just want to know who was driving the wild A온라인카지노추천. Best Character: David Best Quote: "How about a nice game of chess?" - Joshua Best Scene: The initial hack Note: My biggest disappointment is that Leo McGarry only has 30 seconds of screen time... but at least we get to hear him say "Your turn next, Ginsberg"

May seem out of date with the focus on nuclear war. Don't be fooled. A compelling and suspenseful plot, well acted. The ending is profoundly relevant - today. In many ways this movie imagines its future with precision.

More silly than drama, but the premise was fresh in 1983. Even then I couldn't help but see the giant holes in the plot. Still, an eye-opener at the time for a less computer literate audience.

A classic and epochal.

Fun, '80s classic. I recomend it!

Feels an awful lot like a Badham-directed precursor to The Rocketeer. The young leads are perfectly cast.

This was one of Mathew Brodericks greatest movie roles. I've seen this movie dozens of times and it never gets old. John Badham directed this classic suspense thriller about a very intelligent student who loves to play games and will do anything to find a way to play games. A true gamer. Watch the movie to get the rest of the story, You won't regret it! It has a perfect blend of characters and the casting of actors in this movie was incredible.

This may be my ultimate 80s movie, and it brings me pleasure on so many levels. On one hand, it feels almost prophetic in its warning of the dangers of the computer age and what can happen when its powers are abused. On another hand, it's an amazing time machine back to a time when computers were the size of Hyundai Tuscons and sneaking into your school's records to change your grades was like the most diabolically brilliant idea ever. On a third hand, this is one of the great quintessentially 80s casts ever - a pre-Bueller Broderick, my personal favorite Brat Packer Sheedy and a post-9 to 5 Coleman who could portray smarmy villainy like no one else in the business. But at the end of the day, it's simply well-made popular entertainment - thrilling, funny, awe-inspiring, edge of your seat fun. 1983 was quite the year! In addition to the threat of global thermonuclear war here, we also had the nuclear devastation of not only the Oscar-nominated TESTAMENT but the 온라인카지노추천 movie THE DAY AFTER, which is still difficult for me to watch today because of the feelings that arose in me watching it as a youngster. The movie bogs down just a bit in its third quarter before reaching its dynamic climax, but overall, I still think this is one of the best movies of its year, and proof positive that the "popcorn" movies of summer can be well-made, intelligent and still draw in the masses.

I understand how fascinating it is when it's the '80s, but watching in 2023 sounds a bit silly & dull in hallucination dreamland. Empty the panic in vain.

War Games is a satisfying crowd pleaser that enjoys a healthy dose of 80s' charm. The leads are absolutely lovable and beautifully anchor the more serious premise of the film. Even with all the smiles, the direction keeps you on edge to see how the apocalyptic story will work out.

A really good kids kind of thriller, well ahead of its time conceptually. I found it philosophically interesting and amusing. Watched it on Prime.

I watched this again on July 12, 2023 and to my surprise it still holds up. You could remake this with the exact same screenplay, just updating the computer hardware and inserting the term AI along the way and it would capture a new audience. It has great performances and a powerful script. It was made at a time when movies had teens saving the world. Regardless of that, it's very entertaining and the production team do a great job of making us feel we are really in a NORAD nuclear base in a mountain. I loved it in 1983 and like it even more, now.

Surprised I didn't expect it to this good. Great cast
