The Watcher Reviews
What's ultimately most frustrating about The Watcher is the way it takes a scenario that's genuinely frightening and makes it seem implausible.

Watching a miscast Keanu Reeves portray a brilliant serial killer is akin to watching a month-old kitten try to navigate its way across a junkyard guarded by a half-dozen pit bulls -- it ain't a pretty sight.

Had Keanu Reeves gotten litigious, everyone would still remember the lawsuit. No one is still talking about "The Watcher." Well, almost no one. Instead, the stream remained serene. The air remained pure. The breeze, like the man, remained cool.

There's a perfectly acceptable junk food thriller ready to be enjoyed, one doofy, borderline amateurish scene at a time.

Director Joe Charbanic is saddled with an emotionally empty script by David Elliot and Clay Ayers, which matches Reeves's emotionally empty performance quite nicely.

Tired plot and disastrous casting.

If I never see another scene in which a woman is bound and gagged, while her killer struts around the room basking in his own psychotic cleverness, I won't mind a bit.

Not half bad as a rental.

Nasty, sadistic, ugly and pointless.

One of the lamest serial killer thrillers of the post-Silence of the Lambs era.

You can't buy Keanu as a sadist, but you do worry about the guys who wrote the screenplay.

Dreadful performances, scanty motivation and excruciating dialogue.

The script sucks, the directing sucks, and, as much as I do like him, Keanu sucks.

Peters out like a late-night drunk when its threadbare plot and poorly drawn supporting characters start to stand out like a row of empty shot glasses.
