The Watcher Reviews
Tired plot and disastrous casting.

One of the lamest serial killer thrillers of the post-Silence of the Lambs era.

You can't buy Keanu as a sadist, but you do worry about the guys who wrote the screenplay.

The most fun you can have with this insultingly formulaic and utterly predictable film is trying to guess which clich will be next.

We can't ignore the lack of anything resembling substance or purpose in The Watcher.

The movie is called The Watcher and, let me tell you, it's something no one should watch. Not this weekend. Not on video. Not in this lifetime.

[Keanu's] line readings, aiming for a mixture of suavity and creepiness, just sound silly.
| Original Score: 0.5/5 | Jan 1, 2000
While intelligently plotted and well-acted by James Spader, Keanu Reeves and Marisa Tomei, it is neither acutely suspenseful nor particularly thrilling but instead mainly numbing.

To borrow a phrase from another Chicagoan, John Belushi, The Watcher is a 'but nooooo' movie.

He likes to watch, but you might not.

There is not a single original thought in The Watcher, but as these things go, it's not awful.

Has 'direct to video' stamped all over it.

It's a mystery why anybody -- the director, the cast -- would want to devote a significant chunk of their lives to this murky tale.

First-time director Joe Charbanic seems to have watched too many music videos.
