The Waterboy Reviews

A witless and utterly predictable comic fantasy about a misfit turned hero.

Really dumb, but many teens love it anyway.

The formulaic mix of mirth and mayhem is aimed way down the M온라인카지노추천 food chain...

Perfectly watchable, undemanding fun, but you can't help thinking that a slightly darker tone would have gone a very long way.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Jun 2, 2008

The direction is as blunt and vacant as the plotting, the jokes are obvious and the performances (with a couple of exceptions) charmless.

The film is amiably goofy.

As a satire on the only true religion of the American South -- football -- The Waterboy is delightful.

We've got somewhat entertaining trash here.

| Original Score: 2/4 | Jun 18, 2002

Sandler makes the laughs go down easy, even if The Waterboy isn't exactly quality H2O.

A mildly amusing bayou farce with plenty of 'foosball' action to liven the sometimes plodding proceedings.

A series of quickly repetitious sight gags!

This escapist comedy is so cheerfully outlandish that it's hard to resist, and so good-hearted that it's genuinely endearing.

As a whole, it's not so much stupid as it is boring.

| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Jan 1, 2000

Long on crude, cheap humor and short on, well, anything else.

Dehydrated!

| Original Score: D- | Jan 1, 2000

A character whose manner and voice has the effect of fingernails on a blackboard!

| Original Score: 1/4 | Jan 1, 2000

The peculiar comic energy of Sandler's idiot character gets lost because he's off screen for a good deal of the movie.

You can lead Adam Sandler fans to "The Waterboy," but you can't make them think.
