We Summon the Darkness Reviews
And you couldn't just go out to the perfectly functional sheriff's car with the keys probably in it (or on his body)? It's like that GEICO Hallowen commercial with the teenagers running into the the chainsaw shack and one of the girls imploring, "Why don't we get into the running car?" Eye-rolling inducing kind of movie. But two strong stars for the closing credits song Heart and Soul by T'Pau. You know I was singing along - A little bit, little bit!
What a kicka$$ cast!
that was Unexpectable and good totaly
Thanks for watching!
Takes some interesting twists and turns and isn't clumsy or tripping over itself in doing so. Unfortunately, the ending is seen a mile away and ordinary.
Kinda makes you think twice before you just go home with someone. Common sense, lesson learned. Survivalism, action, good acting
not memorable, but ok to pass the time
it's not entirely bad, and has some decent cast members/production values, but it's very poorly paced. the twist happens 30 mins into the film, and i will say for it that that 30 minutes felt much longer due to its density, but looking at the timestamp to find there's more than another hour left has me doubting that the writers have anything left to say. basically all the characters do is make irrational mistakes or get into frustrating arguments to pad out the runtime. to say the least, the twist is not believable. there could be a thousand different ways to take the film in an exciting direction, but it just feels very aimless and mostly consists of meaningless filler once the ruse is up.
A movie where the story makes sense? Actors did a decent job? Can't hate it, but I can't love it either.
This film is indefinable because the plot is banal and bordering on ridicule but the rest is done quite well and manages to entertain a lot, it is obviously not a film to watch with particular demands, it is a simple film that has nothing to do with it.
accidentally watched this twice because i forgot i had already watched it - so it's not super memorable, haha. it feels like a subpar production of a pretty good concept, so overall I did enjoy it, but I can see myself forgetting it again.
Cool 80s style movie.
We Summon the Darkness is just a plain good time. Set in the late 80s, a trio of young women hook up with three metalhead dudes at a concert, leading to a bloody evening packed with several super fun twists and performances. Alexandra Daddario is an especially delightful standout, and the less said for you, reader and potential viewer, the better. A dollop of cutting, gleefully ironic commentary pairs great with the tight and often hilarious slasher story of We Summon the Darkness, a more than solid recommend from beginning to end.
Lots of fun. The whole thing takes an unexpected and humourous turn and delivers a cool perspective on the whole satanic panic nonsense. The girls provide a good amount of laughs.
Wonderful movie. Genuinely funny, and I love that they skip over the cliche "*gasp* The leather jacket you gave me in act 1 saved me from being stabbed!" dialog. Chekhov's whole armory is there, and none of the characters have to say it out loud, which is a refreshing change. Also, who uses an outboard motor as a weapon? This movie wins on novelty, if nothing else.
I like the creative ambition in the WE SUMMON THE DARKNESS slasher flick. I don't think this movie has any surprises for a first time viewer unless it's their first slasher flick ever. I saw the twists 10 miles away but they were still fun. The story didn't seem to have enough clarifying depth. The characters were pretty funny but to give a story a little more body, we needed a little more about Beverly and why she chose to do what she did. It has some really fun character scenes, some typical horror poor decision making (I mean, just drive off in the goddamn cop car!) and just the right amount of blood - not too much like a satire or too little like PG-13. It needed more metal music for a metal horror movie, though, that would've helped.
‘We Summon the Darkness' Unleashes a Metal Mayhem Joyride
A very good film that is very different, which makes it that much better. Nevertheless, it has its flaws. Three best friends cross paths with sadistic killers after they travel to a secluded country home to party. It's good, but I'm not really into films that deal with things that deal with the devil and stuff like that. Of that kind, it's one of the best I've seen.
A clever and darkly humorous spin on satanic panic
