Wendy Reviews
Is great film don’t understand why alot of people didn’t like maybe they have no imagination
Youthful performances decently carry the timeless tale with modernized edges considered as attempted re-imaginative realism, incoherently but admirably discusses our sensual basis of time through surreal uncertainty. (B-)
WENDY is an ambitious and unconventional take on the classic tale, and benefits from the same directorial approach that made Beasts of the Southern Wild such a remarkable film debut. Wendy has an impressive young cast, and succeeds in establishing an atmosphere all its own. The film departs from the classic Peter Pan tale in odd ways, however, offering its own idiosyncratic and deeply melancholy take on growing old, and the plot seems to accord with the movie's internal fantasy logic while not maintaining any consistent metaphoric insight. It's engaging for sure, but perhaps ultimately a bit unsatisfying.
Imagine, Peter Pan, but with no magic. It's the worst movie that I've ever watched. Everytime I watch a movie, I compare it to this one and no other movie has ever been worse.
Nice, and I like it🤩
I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It was a very deep and moving story. I got teary-eyed in places as the narrative unfolded. This film actually does some unique and fun things with the source material. It definitely succeeds where films like Come Away have fell flat. Although, There are places where it starts feeling a bit long in the tooth and a bit too "art house." Just as those moments playout, the in depth lore bits bring you back in. I'd say it's a prequel of sorts to the main Peter Pan story. Its fresh story kept me out of trying to guess what classic story moment they were trying to tell next.
The last 15 minutes will break your heart in the best way. It is a slow burn but worth it. You will scream out 'I love my mother'!
I mean they tried. It's very down to earth. Very timely. But so artsy as a kid I don't think I would have liked or understood it very much. The kids in it are good actors very rare for that age. But still… I feel like it's sort of like " Bridge to Terabithia" a movie that's not really meant for any specific age group. So who is it actually for? To keep it short. I didn't like it. It's not even been a week and I forgot already if I quit right before the end or watched the whole thing.
This was such a beautiful retelling of the Peter Pan story. Visually stunning and there could not have been a better cast actor for Peter - he was such a joy to watch. I will definitely watch this again in the future.
Wendy is a disappointing film. It is about Wendy who must fight to save her family, her freedom, and the joyous spirit of youth from the deadly peril of growing up. Devin France and Yashua Mack give horrible performances. The script is badly written. Benh Zeitlin did a terrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture.
The movie really tried too hard to be full of symbolism and deeper meanings. But really, it just turned into "huh?" and bad writing. I kept waiting for everything to tie in together and get an "aha!" - but was just left wishing I didn't waste my time. Good to watch if you are on a plane and want some noise. Not really good to take time out to watch with someone.
I just didn't get it. Wendy is neither a good rendition of Peter Pan nor a new take on the popular character. This indie movie is weird and uncomfortable to watch.
Single dumbest thing I've ever seen. Bad plot, zero character development. Whoever made this movie, both doesn't understand human emotion and definitely knows nothing about movie making. I want the 2 hrs of my life back.
Very strange! Beautiful scenery. Unbelievable, but it wasn't supposed to be believable. Seemed to drag on about in the middle and then got a little "tied up" and really didn't flow up until the end. I BELIEVE.
I looked at all the Bad Reviews and gave it try anyway . Benh Zeitlen reminds me of Terrance Malik. The films are wonderfully shot and our beautiful to look at. You often wonder a bit about the storyline none the less you find yourself moved.
Don't stop believing. This movie encourages you to stay true to who you are. Find that happy place and live.
This movie was an amazing retelling of the Peter Pan story. A little slow at times, but still worth the watch. The cinematography was beautiful and the kids were really great actors. Great family movie.
Um filme que entrega um trabalho sensível, mergulha no mundo das simbologias como um sonho e é bem autêntico. Com direção interessante, trilha sonora envolvente.
