What About Bob? Reviews
It's got good actors and is funny!
Bill Murray is a comedic talent like none other. He has the best comedic movie resume of anyone. Thanks to Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis, Murray has been part of hits like "Groundhog Day", "Ghostbusters" and "Stripes". Let's not forget smaller roles in films like "Caddyshack" and "Tootsie". In the sea of all these greats, I find myself saying, "What about this film?". This movie is criminally overlooked. It has been 30 years and this film still has no official Blu Ray release. It has Bill Murray at the peak of his powers, and a great straight man performance from Richard Dreyfuss as Dr. Leo Marvin. The doctor recommends you watch this film.
What About Bob? is such a great classic comedy film starring Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfus. This film is full of laughs and alot fun to watch. I highly recommend this movie.
its a film to destroy a perfect mood
This is not a comedy. It is a horror movie.
Reminds me of my life
A classic comedy! Too funny
Absolutely one of my favorites! I got it on DVD (yea, I know, outdated! LOL) and I watch it often! It's still hilarious after all these years!
Despite the many ups and down he's experienced in both his personal and professional life, Bill Murray will always be a welcome addition to any comedy, and What About Bob is widely regarded as one of his finest comedic performances; intense and unrelenting, frustrating and somewhat tiresome, just like the character he's playing. He's counterpointed perfectly by the uptight and egotistical Richard Dreyfuss, who starts off as his psychotherapist but ends up essentially being his victim. Dreyfuss and Murray famously got along badly during filming, a trait surprisingly common in Murray films, but whatever backstage animosity they had adds fuel to an already contentious relationship, and many of the best scenes are simply spent watching the 2 work off each other. The great thing is, the film never paints either side as being entirely right or wrong. It depicts Bob as a kind-hearted soul who loves to spend time with people, but also acknowledges that his overbearing personality and multiple neuroses make him a nightmare in the long run. It shows how Leo's work ethic and drive have made him wealthy and successful, but his vanity and narcissism have left him distant, aloof and uncaring. Things get progressively more preposterous as the film carries on, but the humour is always there, and the family dynamic give it its emotional centre. It might not be the best comedy Murray has ever done, but it's one you wont easily forget.
(I'm Mistletoe Virus I'm saying I like this movie!) one of the best comedies of the 90s! Great odd couple pairing Bob Wiley (Bill Murray) is a wacky oddball. Doctor Leo Marvin (Richard Dreyfuss) is a confident NY psychotherapist who is looking forward to a "Good Morning America" appearance to push his book. It could be a horror movie?! If characters was a serious.
One of the greatest comedies ever made
Although to two leads didn't get along during production, they both knocked it out of the park. Maybe that friction helped. But this comedy holds up to time. Not quite as good as Groundhog Day, but funnier.
Hilariously funny. Murray and Dreyfus at their best.
What About Bob? is a fine piece of comedy. Led by the fantastic performance of Bill Murray, the entire film feeds off his neurotic energy. From the Marvin's to the Guttman's, no one can escape Bob and his crazy charisma. There were scenes that made me cringe and others that gave me chills. Though designed as an outrageous comedy, there were moments of true emotion brought about by Bob and his genuine eagerness to be "normal". I laughed out loud more in this film than most modern comedies, which I attribute to the effortless nature of the humor (Bob's nonverbal cues) instead of forced, raunchy dialogue. Additional comment: I loved nearly every minute of the film until those darn, end title cards came up - explaining what happened next to the characters. It is lazy filmmaking and one of my biggest pet peeves (see my Legally Blonde review).
This is a "perfect comedy"—it's literally a laugh a minute but with the laughs woven into the story rather than situations being created for the sake of generating humour. Plus, the lead character's transformation is from—in simple terms—a lunatic to a normal person; you'd expect some weirdnesses along the way but it's all so smooth and credible!
The least funny f**king 01 hour: and 40 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't remember enough to say, but it is unique and solid.
Classic Bill, a classic old-school comedy with actors who look like real people (remember those times?) Need a pickup, watch this!
An excellent film with Murray and Dreyfuss nailing their performances as live action cartoon characters. It's a simple film with interesting characters that grow and is an absolute delight.
The worst 01 hour: and 40 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is ****ing bull****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
