Where the Crawdads Sing Reviews
Contrary to the critics, I thought it was a wonderful film and quite beautifully shot. To consider it a murder mystery is missing the point. It's a compelling portrayal of strength and resilience over the trauma of abandonment. Daisy Edgar Jones plays Kya perfectly as the characters are interwoven into her story. Thoroughly enjoyable and touching movie.
One of the best films I've seen !!! Everything about it was perfect! Do not understand the bad reviews
Did I watch the same film as some of the ‘critics’. Maybe some of them ought to go and live in the Marsh instead of haughty pontifications that have no bearing on reality, trying to justify their position as what I refer them to as ‘shitics’ what suits them a lot better.
Based on the book of the same name, this keeps closely to the book, and is gor the most part, extremely well acted out. The story flows well for a fairly lengthy film and keeps the attention throughout. I recommend
This was literally the last Oscar worthy movie I have seen. Movies these days lack any kind of connection to reality. This includes the overuse of green screens, CGI, bad casting and acting, dialogue that is shallow, and story telling that is childish. This movie is the opposite of all of that. I was super impressed by the screen play. It is VERY difficult to get all the story elements from a book into a film, and do it in a way still connects you emotionally to the story, and transitions well. This movie does it beautifully. It is well cast and extremely well acted. The story telling and cinematography is amazing. I especially loved how they used the background music to help convey emotion and help tell the story. I LOVED the directing of this movie, so many beautiful shots that brought so much emotion and connection to this film. The character development was spectacular, even with the many characters that had little screen time. You felt connected to them. This is what film making used to be about, story telling, allowing the audience to connect to the world and characters, and exploring the human condition. There were a few parts that were very cheesy and felt unnatural. But overall it was a wonderfully written, directed, and acted film. Very underrated.
I found the novel where the crawdads sing not my taste as it was too long, slow, and dull So I did not have this movie on my to be watched list until I saw Normal People and realized Daisy Edgar Jones was of the lead. I’m glad I changed my mind as the movie adaptation was done perfectly.
The story was fine. I enjoyed it. While the process of getting there was enjoyable, the ending was disappointing. Even though, I'm glad for it. If there was a small timeline that wasn't defined, it would have made the ending much better. But the question still remains.. how? I don't buy it. It was an ending to give us a "oh wow" moment but I would like to see the missing part be seen without being seen. If that makes any sense. Think Usual Suspects and certainly not the Den of Thieves.
An enjoyable watch. Sad in parts, and completely true how, by being different, can cause you to be judged unfairly. A great ending.
I was encouraged to watch the movie by a friend and thankful they did. Whilst there were times the story could have diverged into more traumatic portrayals of relationships, to me it was not necessary. Maybe it was the right movie at the right time, but I never felt the need to stop watching. I loved Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kya, and as ever David Strathairn put in notable performance as Tom. Michael Hyatt and Sterling Macer Jr provide much warmth and nurturing to their role as Mable &Jumpin’. As points in the movie strong emotions played out, especially the ending - a tear jerker.
This movie is fantastic! The low critic score makes no sense. I wish we could rate the reviews from the critics and give them some feedback.
Brilliant, one of my favourite movies!!!
It was actually really good I loved the actors and would recommend it to people who are interested in those types of movies I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea
Though I haven’t read the book, I thought it was a well written movie. I think Edgar-Jones’s performance is perfect for a young woman’s trauma filled childhood. Totally will watch it again to catch more subtilities.
Critics missed the mark on this one. This is an amazing film! 10/10 would recommend. It’s one of those films that has scenes that never make you bored
Fantastic movie! Will watch it again.
Truly an amazing movie. Daisy Edgar-Jones is incredible in this role and the entire cast did an amazing Job. This movie truly transports you into her characters world and tells her story beautifully. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A beautiful and heroic film. The characters, story, and setting all captivate in this masterpiece.
Movie allowed for a legitimate character arch for the female protagonist. That's why the critics didn't like. I enjoyed this movie a lot.
I wasn’t familiar with the story not having read the book so I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. I love movies set in the Southern States and the pace and storyline were just perfect. Daisy Edgar Jones gives an excellent performance and I could listen to David Strathairn’s voice all day long. The critics must have been watching a different movie from the one I saw. Highly recommended.
